What happened to the Apple Car?
Bloomberg and Reuters reported on February 27, 2024, that Apple had decided to stop work on its electric-car project. Bloomberg said the decision was communicated internally. The project ended before Apple announced or released a vehicle; there is no Apple Car to order.

Reports described the effort as a decade-long undertaking, with its beginnings placed around 2014. That span does not mean Apple worked continuously on one fixed design: reporting portrayed the project’s ambitions and direction as changing over the years.

What was Project Titan?
Project Titan was the internal name used in reporting for Apple’s car effort. Apple did not publish a definitive product specification in the sources reporting its cancellation, so details about what the company planned should be treated as reported accounts rather than an official description.

Reuters described a shift from an early ambition for a radical, fully autonomous vehicle toward a more conventional car with advanced driver-assistance features. These were reported directions for a project in development, not two production models or confirmed specifications.

Why did Apple cancel the project?

What happened to the employees?
Bloomberg reported that nearly 2,000 employees were working on the project when the cancellation was communicated. TechCrunch separately reported an estimate of about 1,400, attributed to an employee. These are distinct reported estimates, not an Apple-confirmed headcount, and their differing figures should not be treated as directly interchangeable.

Was an Apple Car ever released?
No. Apple did not release an Apple-branded car, and the project’s cancellation means there is no pending Apple Car launch or model to buy. There are no substantiated Apple Car-specific accessories, replacement parts, manuals, repair products, or other physical products to shop for.
