Anritsu announced the solution on October 2, 2025, calling it an industry first; in January 2026, it reported that the solution featuring its MX703330E eCall Tester had earned certification to the European end-to-end Hybrid eCall standard, EN 18052:2025.
What Anritsu’s Hybrid eCall solution does
eCall is an in-vehicle emergency-call service. When vehicle sensors detect a collision, the in-vehicle system (IVS) can initiate an emergency call and send location and vehicle information to a public safety answering point (PSAP). Hybrid eCall addresses the transition between radio generations: it combines 4G LTE with conventional 2G GSM/GPRS and 3G W-CDMA emergency-call paths so testing can cover environments where those networks coexist.
Anritsu’s test environment simulates the mobile network and PSAP side of the interaction. This allows engineers to exercise signaling and end-to-end call behavior without relying on a live public network or an actual emergency call.
What equipment is included
The integrated configuration announced by Anritsu combines the MD8475B Signaling Tester with the MX703330E eCall Tester and associated software. Its named components are:

- MD8475B Signaling Tester: provides the simulated mobile-network environment, including LTE, W-CDMA and GSM.
- MX703330E eCall Tester: provides PSAP simulation for eCall testing.
- eCall software and options: the configuration includes the eCall software, NG eCall Software Option and Hybrid eCall Software Option.
The combined setup is intended to test conventional eCall, NG eCall and Hybrid eCall within an integrated workflow. Anritsu’s releases do not publish equipment pricing or measured performance figures.
How LTE-to-legacy handover is tested
A central capability is support for SRVCC, or Single Radio Voice Call Continuity. It allows engineers to validate a VoLTE call handing over from LTE to 2G or 3G. The test setup can therefore exercise the signaling across a change in radio network rather than limiting validation to a call that remains on LTE.

This is a laboratory validation capability, not a claim that every vehicle or network will switch in the same way in every real-world coverage condition. The relevant behavior depends on the vehicle system and the mobile-network environment being tested.

The EN 18052:2025 certification is distinct from the EN 17240:2024 PSAP-simulator certification: the former concerns end-to-end Hybrid eCall conformance, while the latter concerns the PSAP simulation role for NG eCall.

What the 2026 EU date means for vehicle makers
Anritsu states that NG eCall is mandatory for new EU vehicle types requiring type approval from January 1, 2026. That scope is about new vehicle types seeking approval, not a blanket statement that every vehicle already on the road must be retrofitted on that date. For manufacturers developing vehicles for European approval, the date makes NG eCall conformance testing especially relevant; mixed-generation network validation matters where Hybrid eCall behavior is also in scope.

Anritsu says HYUNDAI MOBIS selected the integrated MX703330E and MD8475B solution to test Hybrid eCall, NG eCall and conventional eCall. This identifies a customer using the system, but Anritsu has not disclosed purchase price, deployment scale or test-performance results in the cited announcement.
