The relevant package is Android Auto 14.5.6522, published by Google LLC. If Google Play offers the update for your phone, that is the safest way to install it. Sideloading is possible through APK bundle distribution, but it requires choosing the correct architecture and accepting more troubleshooting and rollback risk.
Android Auto 14.5: the short version
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Was Android Auto 14.5 a beta? | Not in the usual distribution sense. 14.5 was on the stable-release track by late June 2025, while 14.6 and 14.7 were the contemporaneous beta versions. |
| What did it add? | No confirmed headline feature. Google’s available release text described bug fixes and other improvements. |
| Did it add Gemini? | No. Gemini was not delivered in Android Auto 14.5. |
| Is it the current Android Auto version? | No. Android Auto 14.5 is an older 2025 release and should not be confused with much newer builds in current APK archives. |
| Should you install it manually? | Usually not if Google Play provides a compatible update. Manual installation is mainly for users who understand APK bundles, device architectures, and recovery steps. |
What actually changed in Android Auto 14.5?
1. Bug fixes and unspecified improvements
The package’s “What’s new” text is limited to “Bug fixes and other improvements.” That is a maintenance description, not a detailed feature changelog. It does not identify which bugs were fixed, which phones or vehicles were affected, or whether the changes involved connection stability, audio, notifications, navigation, or voice commands.

As a result, it would be inaccurate to say that Android Auto 14.5 definitely fixed a particular USB problem, Bluetooth failure, head-unit crash, microphone issue, or navigation bug. Those problems can depend on the phone, Android version, vehicle software, head unit, cable, country, and account configuration. A user may experience better stability after updating, but the available release notes do not prove a specific fix.
2. No confirmed new headline feature
Contemporaneous coverage found no new user-facing feature in 14.5. The update was characterized as largely unremarkable, with Google providing only generic bug-fix language. That makes the absence of a feature announcement the important finding: Android Auto 14.5 should not be presented as a redesign, a major interface update, or a new assistant platform.
Why the “14.5 beta” label is misleading
Android Auto version numbers and testing channels are separate things. A release can have a numbered version without being a beta, and Google’s beta program does not guarantee that a user will receive a particular number.
Recommended Free Tools
For this release period, Android Auto 14.5 was broadly rolling out as the regular release, while Android Auto 14.6 and 14.7 were being tested through the beta channel. Therefore, searching for an official “Android Auto 14.5 beta APK” can create the wrong expectation. The 14.5 package listed as 14.5.6522 uses a release label rather than a beta label.

Google’s beta guidance says beta testers receive early updates and can test how Android Auto behaves with their particular phone, vehicle, and region. Google also warns that beta software may be less stable and that some features may not work correctly. Only one Android Auto version can be installed on a phone at a time. If no beta is currently available, joining the program may leave the phone on the regular version until another beta build is offered.
Android Auto 14.5.6522 APK variants
Android Auto 14.5 was distributed as multiple APK bundle variants rather than one universal standalone APK. The package requires Android 8.0 or later according to the listed 14.5 variants, but the phone’s architecture and the specific bundle still matter.
| Variant or architecture | Package/build detail | Recorded upload date | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| arm64-v8a | 14.5.652214; Android 8.0+ | June 9, 2025 | The architecture commonly used by modern 64-bit Android phones, but verify the device before downloading. |
| armeabi-v7a | 14.5.652213 | June 17, 2025 | For compatible 32-bit ARM devices. |
| x86 | 14.5 release variant | June 16, 2025 | For compatible x86 Android environments. |
| x86_64 | 14.5 release variant | June 16, 2025 | For compatible 64-bit x86 environments. |
| arm64-v8a | 14.5.652264; Android 8.0+ | July 3, 2025 | A later arm64-v8a variant listed under the same 14.5.6522 release family. |
The listing also reports varying DPI ranges or fixed DPI values depending on the build. The correct DPI configuration is part of choosing the appropriate variant; it is not safe to assume that every APK in the release will work on every phone.
What an APK bundle means
An APK bundle can contain a base APK plus split-configuration APKs. Unlike a single universal APK, those files are assembled for a particular device configuration, such as its processor architecture and screen-density requirements.

This creates several common installation mistakes:
- Downloading an ARM package for an x86 device, or the reverse.
- Installing only the base APK while omitting required split files.
- Choosing a mismatched DPI or configuration package.
- Assuming a package that installs successfully will necessarily work with a specific vehicle head unit.
- Replacing a working release without recording which version was installed.
APKMirror’s listing identifies the package as being signed by Google LLC and describes manual review of posted APK files. Those statements describe the host’s listing and review process; they do not make APKMirror Google’s official download host. Google Play remains the preferred distribution route when the update is available there.
How to update Android Auto safely
Option 1: Use Google Play
- Open Google Play on the Android phone.
- Search for Android Auto or open the phone’s available app updates.
- Install the offered update from Google.
- Restart the phone if Android Auto or the vehicle system continues showing the previous behavior.
- Test the connection while the vehicle is parked.
Android Auto is integrated into compatible Android phones and ordinarily does not need to be downloaded as a separate car-display app. The exact update a phone receives depends on Google’s rollout, the phone, Android version, region, and compatibility—not simply on joining the beta program.
Option 2: Sideload an APK bundle
Manual installation should be treated as an advanced option. Before proceeding, confirm the phone architecture, Android minimum version, bundle format, and whether the package is intended for the device’s screen-density configuration. Keep the existing installer or a known-good version available in case the new build causes connection or stability problems.

Do not install a random “universal” Android Auto APK merely because its version number looks similar. A mismatched or incomplete bundle may fail to install, repeatedly crash, disappear from the launcher, or install while leaving Android Auto unable to communicate with the car.

Includes both USB-A and USB-C extension cables to fit hidden or angled ports in different car layouts.

If the vehicle connection becomes worse after sideloading, uninstalling updates or returning to the previously working Google Play version may be necessary. The precise rollback path varies by phone manufacturer and Android release, so record the original version and avoid deleting the only copy of a known-good installer.
Compatibility requirements for Android Auto
The Android Auto package version is only one part of the setup. Google’s current support guidance identifies Android 9.0 or newer, an active mobile-data plan, and a compatible vehicle or aftermarket head unit as baseline requirements for Android Auto on a car display. Those are current support guidelines and should not automatically be treated as the exact requirements for every Android Auto 14.5 installation in 2025.
Wired Android Auto
- The phone and vehicle or aftermarket receiver must support Android Auto.
- The phone needs mobile-data connectivity.
- Use a USB data connection, not a charge-only cable.
- Connect and complete setup while the vehicle is parked.
- Follow the prompts on the phone and vehicle display.
A USB port alone does not prove that a car supports Android Auto. Cable quality can also affect wired operation. If the connection repeatedly disconnects, use a short, good-quality data cable rather than assuming that updating to 14.5 will fix the problem. A high-quality USB-C cable for Android Auto can be a sensible troubleshooting purchase, but it is not a universal solution and must match the phone’s connector and the vehicle’s USB port.

Wireless Android Auto requires a compatible car or aftermarket receiver. Initial setup involves Bluetooth pairing, and Google recommends leaving Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Location Services enabled while pairing and configuring the connection. The vehicle should remain parked during setup.
Some vehicles support Android Auto only over USB. A wireless Android Auto adapter may be relevant for a compatible wired head unit that lacks built-in wireless operation, but compatibility varies by vehicle, receiver, phone, and adapter. Android Auto 14.5 itself does not require such an accessory.

Gemini
Android Auto 14.5 did not add Gemini. The contemporaneous reporting also indicated that Android Auto 14.6 and 14.7 did not deliver Gemini at that point. Do not treat assistant screenshots, phone-side Gemini announcements, or later product coverage as evidence that Gemini was part of the 14.5 car-display release.

The 2026 Android Auto redesign
Google later announced a substantially refreshed next-generation Android Auto experience for rollout throughout 2026. The announcement described Material 3 Expressive styling, customizable widgets, edge-to-edge Google Maps, immersive 3D navigation, parked full-HD video, Dolby Atmos in supported cars and apps, and broader Gemini capabilities.
Those are later developments. They do not establish that any of those features were included in Android Auto 14.5, which is a 2025 release. Mixing the announcements into a 14.5 feature list would make the article factually misleading.
Should you install Android Auto 14.5?
| Your situation | Best choice |
|---|---|
| Google Play offers an Android Auto update | Install through Google Play rather than sideloading. |
| Your current Android Auto connection works normally | There is no documented headline feature in 14.5 that makes manual installation necessary. |
| You are troubleshooting unexplained instability | Try the official update path, a known-good data cable, phone and head-unit restarts, and parked setup before changing APK variants. |
| You specifically need to test beta features | Use Google’s official beta program, understanding that the available beta may be 14.6, 14.7, or another build—not necessarily 14.5. |
| You need to sideload for testing or compatibility reasons | Match architecture and bundle splits carefully, retain a rollback plan, and do not assume installation guarantees vehicle compatibility. |
Bottom line
Android Auto 14.5.6522 was a maintenance update, not the major beta feature release its title may suggest. Its documented change was generic bug fixing and other improvements; no confirmed headline feature or Gemini support belongs in the 14.5 feature list. Use Google Play when possible, and approach APK bundle installation as an advanced troubleshooting or testing task rather than a required upgrade.
Frequently Asked Questions

No major user-facing feature was reliably documented. The release notes said only “Bug fixes and other improvements.”
What features did Android Auto 14.5 add?
No. Gemini was not included in Android Auto 14.5.
Does Android Auto 14.5 include Gemini?
Yes, but the release is distributed in multiple APK bundle variants. You must match the phone’s architecture and configuration, and Google Play is the safer option when it offers the update.
Can I install Android Auto 14.5 from an APK?

Does every USB port work with Android Auto?
The Bottom Line
Android Auto 14.5 was mainly a maintenance release. It added no confirmed headline feature, did not add Gemini, and should not be confused with the contemporaneous 14.6 and 14.7 beta testing. Update through Google Play when available; sideload only after verifying the APK architecture, split bundle, Android version, and your rollback plan.
