AMP Moto RR electric dirt bike: the 275-pound, 33.5-hp claim behind the $3,250 headline

The AMP Moto RR was reported as a 275-pound electric dirt bike with 33.5 hp, 90 Nm of torque and up to 75 miles of claimed range. Here is what the 40-hp headline, battery figures and $3,250 preorder do—and do not—establish.

The AMP Moto RR was presented in a January 2025 New Atlas report as a 275-pound (125 kg) electric dirt bike with 33.5 hp of claimed peak output, 90 Nm (66.3 lb-ft) of torque and a claimed range of up to 75 miles (120 km). The report’s headline rounded that figure up to 40 hp, so 40 hp should not be treated as a confirmed specification.

The other number in the headline—$3,250—was a campaign-era preorder price, not a current retail quote. New Atlas described the offer during an Indiegogo campaign and said AMP planned shipment through US and European distribution partners after the campaign. Current price, stock, delivery, warranty and service support are not established by that report.

Specification Reported figure or equipment
Peak power 33.5 hp in the article body and photo caption; the headline says 40 hp
Torque 90 Nm (66.3 lb-ft)
Weight 275 lb (125 kg)
Battery 72 V, 60 Ah; an optional 80 Ah battery was described
Maximum range Up to 75 miles (120 km) per charge; test conditions were not stated
Standard charging Four to six hours
Transmission Manual four-speed gearbox with reverse
Chassis and suspension Hand-crafted aluminum-and-steel chassis with fully adjustable suspension
Brakes Hydraulic front disc brake and vented rear rotor
Electrical protection IP68 rating claimed for the battery, harnesses and speed controller

Why the headline says 40 hp while the article says 33.5 hp

The discrepancy is material. The New Atlas headline uses 40 horsepower, but the same report’s body text and image caption identify 33.5 hp as peak output. Until AMP publishes a definitive current specification sheet explaining the difference—such as a revised motor, a different measurement standard or a rounded marketing figure—the defensible number to quote is 33.5 hp peak, with the 40-hp headline noted as a conflicting claim.

SYX MOTO Sprk Electric Dirt Bike, 4000W Peak 43MPH Electric-Motorcycle with 60V/27AH Battery E-bike, Full Hydraulic Brakes and Suspensions Mountain Off-Road E-Dirt Bike, for Teens & Adults (Black)
  • High-Efficiency Mid-Drive Motor: Powered by a cutting-edge 4000W peak mid-drive motor, delivers a superior riding experience compared to standard hub motors. Exceptional balance and agile handling. The mid-drive system leverages the bike’s existing gears to provide massive torque for climbing steep hills, rather than fighting against the wheel. With a thrilling top speed of 43 MPH, this setup solves the problem of poor weight distribution and sluggish climbing power found in traditional hub motor designs, giving you professional-grade control and explosive acceleration on rough terrain.
  • Advanced Hydraulic Braking System: Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes deliver superior safety and control. Unlike mechanical cable brakes—which need constant adjustment and fade under stress—this system offers consistent, powerful stopping with a single-finger pull. Precision braking ensures instant stops on steep descents or wet, muddy trails. By eliminating brake fade and reducing stopping distances, it solves a critical safety issue, giving riders the confidence to push their limits with reliable, immediate stopping authority at all times.
  • High-Capacity Long-Range Battery: Equipped with a high-performance 60V/27AH lithium battery, this dirt bike allows you to explore further without the constant anxiety of running out of power. Offering a maximum range of up to 60 miles on a single charge, it effectively solves the problem of “range anxiety” that plagues lesser electric dirt bikes. Whether you are tackling a full day of trail riding or commuting across town, this robust battery ensures you have the endurance to finish your journey.
  • Advanced Suspension System: Conquer rough terrain with a rear nitrogen shock and front hydraulic forks. The nitrogen shock resists overheating and pressure shifts during aggressive riding, delivering consistent damping over jumps and rocks. Front hydraulic forks absorb high-frequency impacts to reduce arm fatigue. Together, they eliminate jarring landings and loss of control on uneven ground, providing a smooth, stable ride with optimal traction.
  • Safety Guidelines & Rider Responsibility: Proper assembly and safety protocols are essential. Recommended for riders aged 14+. Minors must be closely supervised. Always wear a certified helmet, goggles, gloves, and protective pads. Before riding, check all bolts, tire pressure, and brakes. Obey local traffic laws and ride only in designated off-road areas where electric dirt bikes are permitted. Ride responsibly to protect yourself, your investment, and the sport's reputation.

Neither figure is an independently measured dynamometer result in the available coverage. Acceleration, top speed, sustained output and heat management therefore cannot be inferred from the headline alone.

Battery, range and charging

Range is a maximum claim, not a riding guarantee

The reported 72-volt, 60-Ah pack has a nominal energy rating of about 4.32 kWh (72 × 60), before accounting for usable capacity, reserve settings or charging losses. AMP’s stated “up to 75 miles” (120 km) does not include a route, speed, rider weight, terrain, temperature or test procedure in the report. Dirt, sand, hills and aggressive throttle use can produce a very different result from a gentle-range test.

Charging options

Standard charging was listed at four to six hours. AMP was also reported to offer a faster charger and an optional 80-Ah battery, but the article does not state the larger pack’s range, charger power, price or compatibility details. Buyers should obtain those numbers in writing before treating either option as part of the delivered motorcycle.

Drivetrain and off-road hardware

Manual gearbox and reverse

The RR is unusual among electric motorcycles in the report’s description of a manual four-speed transmission plus reverse gear. That arrangement may appeal to riders who want familiar gear selection and engine-braking-like control, but the report does not explain clutch operation, shift strategy, gear ratios or whether reverse is intended for low-speed maneuvering only.

  • Notes: After assembly, double-check that the brakes, wheels and all other components of the electric dirt bike are properly installed. Before purchasing, look up local laws regarding the minimum riding age and license requirements to ride legally. Do not directly plug the headlight wires together during installation; refer to the assembly video for guidance

Chassis, suspension and brakes

AMP described a hand-crafted aluminum-and-steel frame and fully adjustable suspension. The braking equipment listed was a hydraulic front disc and a vented rear rotor. No spring rates, travel, wheel sizes, tire specification, brake-disc dimensions or ready-to-ride fluid and accessory condition were supplied, so the 275-lb figure cannot be used to predict handling without those details.

Weather and impact protection

The battery, wiring harnesses and speed controller were described as IP68-rated. IP ratings apply to the tested components and conditions defined by the manufacturer; they do not automatically make the complete motorcycle suitable for every depth of water, pressure washer or submerged recovery. Connectors, bearings, controls and other exposed parts still need the maintenance guidance AMP specifies.

What the $3,250 preorder actually meant

New Atlas reported a US$3,250 preorder during an Indiegogo campaign and described it as as much as 50% below AMP’s eventual retail price. That was a time-limited campaign offer reported in January 2025, not a current price. The article also said AMP considered the RR in production and planned to ship to US and European distribution partners within 20 days after the campaign ended, conditional on its plans proceeding as expected.

Before paying, confirm the current landed price, tax and import treatment, delivery date, cancellation terms, warranty provider, replacement-battery policy, parts supply and who performs service in your country. None of those current commercial terms is established by the 2025 report.

Questions to resolve before comparing it with another electric dirt bike

  • Is the current peak-output rating 33.5 hp or 40 hp, and how was it measured?
  • What is the ready-to-ride weight with the standard battery, guards, rack and required fluids?
  • What range results are available for trail riding, road speeds and different rider weights?
  • What charger is included, what is its input power, and what does the optional fast charger cost?
  • What are the suspension travel, wheel sizes, tire choices and brake specifications?
  • What warranty, diagnostic support and battery-replacement path apply in your region?
  • Which parts and accessories are currently stocked, and are they model-specific?
  • What exact equipment and certification are included in the Duo Strada street-legal package for your jurisdiction?

Bottom line for a prospective buyer

The AMP Moto RR’s reported package is distinctive: a claimed 33.5 hp, 90 Nm of torque, 275-lb mass, a 72-V battery, manual four-speed transmission and reverse. But the most attention-grabbing figures remain claims from a January 2025 campaign report. The 40-hp headline conflicts with the body specification, the 75-mile range lacks test conditions, and the $3,250 price and delivery promise are historical. Treat the RR as an intriguing specification sheet until current documentation, regional support and independent testing close those gaps.
