By U.S. year-to-date sales through September 2026, Ford’s F-Series is America’s best-selling pickup nameplate, with 561,508 trucks sold. Chevrolet Silverado ranks second at 422,713, followed by Ram Pickup, GMC Sierra and Toyota Tacoma. These are sales rankings—not ratings of quality or recommendations for every buyer.
America’s top-selling pickups through September 2026
The ranking below uses reported U.S. sales by pickup nameplate. GoodCarBadCar’s main monthly table reports 16 nameplates and totals 2,327,920 units through September; it does not include the Tesla Cybertruck or Rivian R1T alongside those 16. The publisher says those two appear in other tables, but their latest figures were not synchronized with the main table. The figures therefore should not be read as a complete, synchronized count of every pickup nameplate.

GoodCarBadCar’s 2026 U.S. pickup sales table supplies the nameplate ranking and its coverage note. Ford’s October 2, 2026, Q3 sales release filed with the SEC independently confirms 561,508 F-Series sales through September and says the nameplate led Silverado by more than 140,000 trucks.
What the sales ranking does—and does not—mean
“Most popular” here means most reported sales in the United States during the year-to-date period ending September 2026. It does not measure online searches, owner satisfaction, reliability, or which truck is best for a particular job. Sales totals and search interest are different measures, and a sales lead does not establish that every buyer prefers the leader.

The figures are reported by nameplate, rather than as a comparison of individual configurations or model years. A nameplate’s total does not tell you whether a particular cab, engine, bed, or trim is right for your needs.
How to choose a truck for your needs
Use the ranking as a snapshot of sales, then compare the vehicles and configurations against the work you expect them to do. A useful starting point is to identify your priorities:
