Which Volvo models are recalled in 2026?
This list covers Volvo Cars passenger vehicles named in U.S. NHTSA safety campaigns filed during calendar year 2026. The filing year is not the vehicle’s model year: a 2026-filed campaign can cover vehicles built for earlier model years. Campaign counts below are NHTSA estimates of potentially affected vehicles, not counts of cars that remain unrepaired.

The campaign set covered here names the EX30 and EX30 Cross Country for two different issues, and the S60L for a door-latch issue. A vehicle’s inclusion in a model-year range does not by itself establish that its VIN is covered.
What owners of a 2025 EX30 should know about the battery recall
Campaign 26V103 is the current expanded and replacement campaign for the battery concern. Volvo Car USA’s notice says a high-voltage battery short circuit could cause overheating and fire. It directs owners to limit charging to 70% until the vehicle is repaired and describes a free dealer inspection, with battery-module replacement as necessary.

The initial campaign, 26V001, was filed January 8, 2026. It listed 40 potentially affected vehicles, advised owners to park outside and away from structures as well as limit charging to 70%, and said the remedy was under development at that time. NHTSA later stated that 26V103 expands and replaces 26V001. The later notice lists 189 potentially affected vehicles; do not add the initial campaign’s 40 to that figure as though they were a separate group. Use the current notice and the VIN result for vehicle-specific interim directions and repair status.
How do I check my Volvo recall by VIN?
- Open NHTSA’s recall lookup.
- Enter the vehicle identification number (VIN), or use the license-plate option if available, to see recalls associated with that vehicle. A general year, make and model search returns broader recall and safety-issue results rather than the same VIN-specific answer.
- Read the campaign details and follow any interim instructions in the vehicle-specific notice. Contact a local Volvo dealer to confirm whether the repair applies and arrange the free recall work.
NHTSA cautions that a VIN lookup may not show recalls already repaired, some very recent announcements before every affected VIN has been identified, recalls more than 15 years old (subject to exceptions), or international recalls. The agency says its U.S. recall data is updated daily; its datasets and API documentation explain other ways to search campaign information. The VIN result and the vehicle’s repair record are what determine whether a particular car still needs service.

What this 2026 Volvo recall list does not cover
This roundup is limited to Volvo Cars passenger vehicles in U.S. NHTSA notices filed in 2026. It does not include recalls in other countries, non-safety service campaigns, or Volvo Trucks campaigns. NHTSA distinguishes Volvo Group North America from Volvo Cars; commercial-vehicle notices should not be folded into this passenger-car list.
A separate Volvo brake-software campaign, 25V392, was filed in 2025 and is not a 2026-filed recall. On July 17, 2025, NHTSA issued an urgent warning concerning that campaign for select Volvo electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, including instructions about the over-the-air brake software recall and interim guidance concerning regenerative braking. Owners seeking earlier-year open recalls should check the live VIN lookup and the relevant campaign notice.
