Alfa Romeo changed the name of its new car from Milano to Alfa Romeo Junior on 15 April 2024. The brand said it made the change after an Italian government official objected to the Milano name, although Alfa Romeo maintained that it believed the name met legal requirements. The available sources do not confirm that the Junior has been renamed again.
What was the Alfa Romeo Junior originally called?
Alfa Romeo first announced the model as the Milano, before its April 2024 unveiling. The company said the name paid tribute to Milan, where the brand began, and presented the vehicle as its first “Sport Urban Vehicle,” with a fully electric version planned. Alfa Romeo’s original naming announcement set out that rationale.
Why did Alfa Romeo change Milano to Junior?
On 15 April 2024, Alfa Romeo announced that the car would instead be called Alfa Romeo Junior. The company said an Italian government official had objected to the Milano name. Alfa Romeo maintained that it believed the name met legal requirements, but said it chose to change it “in the spirit of promoting mutual understanding.” The brand’s announcement also said Junior had been favored by the public and had roots in Alfa Romeo’s history.
ANSA reported the decision on the same date and attributed the explanation to Jean-Philippe Imparato, then Alfa Romeo CEO. The dispute concerned the model being produced outside Italy while carrying the name of an Italian city, according to ANSA’s report.

Is Alfa Romeo changing the Junior’s name again?
No further name change is confirmed by the available sources. The documented change is the 2024 switch from Milano to Junior. That does not establish that a later announcement is impossible; it means there is no substantiated second change to report here.

The naming dispute does not identify a difference in the car itself. Alfa Romeo Ireland’s product guide, current as of 1 April 2025, describes Junior Hybrid and Junior Elettrica variants and lists a charging-cable organizer as an aftersales accessory. Alfa Romeo’s product and price-list document also covers charging solutions, including cables and wallboxes. These are market-specific materials, not a universal equipment list; check the latest specification and availability for your country before relying on a trim or accessory detail.

If you are shopping for an EV charging cable organizer, check that it suits your Junior version, the cable you use, and your market’s equipment before buying. The official Irish guide identifies the organizer, but does not establish compatibility for every vehicle or cable.
