The Giulia Quadrifoglio is expensive to maintain compared with an ordinary family sedan, and an out-of-warranty repair can be costly. But the available reliability figures are Giulia-family warranty-claim data—not a failure forecast for every Quadrifoglio. For a used example, service records, condition, brake specification and a VIN recall check matter more than a blanket label of “reliable” or “unreliable.”
How much does it cost to maintain a Giulia Quadrifoglio?
Published UK estimates put routine Quadrifoglio servicing at about £350–£900, with a major service around £1,200 every four years or 36,000 miles. Auto Express says that major service includes replacing the auxiliary drive belt and tensioner. These are reported estimates, not current dealer quotes; the bill can vary with model year, location, dealer, condition and any additional work.
Maintenance schedules differ by market and model year, so use the schedule for the actual car rather than importing an interval from another country. The 2019 US-market owner’s manual directs owners to scheduled servicing by an authorised dealer. It also says additional repairs or replacements found during service require the owner’s explicit consent. Alfa Romeo Australia’s handbook specifies an intermediate oil-and-filter service at 15,000 km or 12 months, and a first major service at 30,000 km or two years, for the Australian context covered by that handbook. Scheduled maintenance is owner-paid there, with wear items such as brakes and tires needing attention outside scheduled operations.
For routine checks, the 2019 US manual calls for checking coolant, brake fluid, washer fluid, and tire inflation pressure and condition monthly or every 600 miles/1,000 km, and before a long trip. Consult the car’s own manual for its exact requirements.

Before buying, ask a dealer or qualified specialist for a written estimate of the next scheduled service based on the vehicle’s history and market. This is especially useful if a UK car is approaching the cited four-year/36,000-mile major-service point. Auto Express’s UK service estimates, the 2019 US owner’s manual and Alfa Romeo Australia’s service and warranty handbook cover different contexts.
What do fuel, tires and brakes add to ownership?
Fuel use depends on how it is driven
Fuel consumption varies with conditions and driving style. In a July 2026 road test, Country Life’s James Fisher reported 28 mpg while driving in comfort or eco mode. That is one reviewer’s observation, not a laboratory rating or an owner-wide average.

Tire and brake costs depend on the car’s setup
Check the fitted wheel and tire specification, tire condition and pressure rather than budgeting from a generic figure; the cited sources do not establish a current tire quote. The brake system also matters: carbon-ceramic brakes were optional on the specification discussed in Alfa Romeo’s supplement. The supplement says some anomalous noise may occur without impairing correct operation or reliability, and recommends inspection by a dedicated Alfa Romeo dealership after intensive high-performance use. Confirm which brakes are fitted and how the car has been used before estimating consumable costs. No current tire, brake, fuel-price or insurance quote is established by the cited sources.
Country Life’s July 2026 road-test account and Alfa Romeo’s Quadrifoglio supplement provide the cited context.

How reliable is the Giulia Quadrifoglio?
The strongest numeric signal in the cited sources is concerning, but it is not a Quadrifoglio-only reliability study. The Car Expert reported MotorEasy data in April 2025 covering 69 Giulia-family warranty claims, an 11% reliability score and an average repair cost of £1,388.45. These are figures for that claims dataset, not the chance that a particular car will fail; they should not be read as a prediction for every Quadrifoglio.
The same reported dataset put average gearbox repair costs above £8,000 and electrical repair costs at nearly £3,000, while describing those categories as relatively rare. These figures illustrate potential exposure to infrequent major repairs, not typical annual spending.

A single-car test shows why individual history is worth examining without proving a widespread defect: Car and Driver’s 2018 long-term Quadrifoglio displayed an electronic throttle/service-engine warning before 2,400 miles, and its dealer replaced the fuel pump under warranty at 5,040 miles. The publication also reported a US$169 service at 10,000 miles at the time. One editorial car cannot establish how often those issues occur, and that historical service price is not a current quote.
Owner reviews are not a substitute for failure-rate data. Carsales displayed nine Giulia owner reviews with a 4.3 average when accessed; the submissions span model years and are self-selected opinions, not a Quadrifoglio-only reliability survey. Treat individual accounts as prompts for inspection questions, not as proof of prevalence.

The cited evidence does not establish a definitive list of common Quadrifoglio faults. Warranty claims identify potentially expensive repair categories, while the long-term test documents one early warning and fuel-pump replacement; neither tells a buyer that a particular car has the same fault. Focus on verifying the specific vehicle:
- Service history: Request invoices and a continuous record. Confirm that work appropriate to the car’s model year and market has been completed, and obtain a quote for the next service.
- Warning lights and diagnostics: Check for active warnings and ask for diagnostic history. Have unresolved faults assessed independently rather than relying on a seller’s explanation.
- Tires and brakes: Check tire fitment, condition and pressure. Identify whether the car has conventional or optional carbon-ceramic brakes; for a car used intensively, follow Alfa Romeo’s inspection guidance.
- Repair contingency: If the car is out of warranty, decide whether the purchase price and your budget leave room for a low-frequency, high-cost repair. The claims figures indicate possible exposure, not an individual car’s likely outcome.
Does the Quadrifoglio have a brake-disc recall?
Auto Express reported a March 2021 campaign involving possible small cracks in the rear brake discs on a small number of Giulia Quadrifoglios. A model-wide article cannot confirm whether a particular car is affected or whether repair work was completed. Check the VIN with Alfa Romeo and the recall authority for the market where the car was sold. Auto Express’s used Giulia review reports the campaign.
