The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and Ferrari 12Cilindri take sharply different routes to supercar performance. Alfa’s compact, bespoke special series pairs a twin-turbo V6 with a battery-electric configuration described in its 2023 launch material; Ferrari’s front-engined grand tourer is built around a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12. Their claimed acceleration figures are close, but the specifications are not the result of a controlled head-to-head test.
Two different ideas of a supercar
The 33 Stradale is presented by Alfa Romeo as a limited, bespoke tribute to its 1967 predecessor. Its current model page emphasizes the combustion version’s 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6. Separately, Alfa Romeo’s 2023 launch material described a battery-electric version as an option, so those specifications should not be combined as if they describe one powertrain.
The Ferrari 12Cilindri is a front-engined grand tourer centered on a naturally aspirated 6,496 cm³, 65-degree V12. Ferrari’s technical sheet rates it at 830 cv at 9,250 rpm and 678 Nm at 7,250 rpm. Alfa’s current page lists 620 HP for the V6. These figures use the manufacturers’ own unit labels and are not a like-for-like power measurement.
Powertrain and drivetrain specifications
| Specification | Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale | Ferrari 12Cilindri |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6; 620 HP on Alfa Romeo’s current model page (Alfa Romeo). | 6,496 cm³ naturally aspirated 65-degree V12 (Ferrari technical sheet). |
| Published output | 620 HP on Alfa Romeo’s current model page. | 830 cv at 9,250 rpm and 678 Nm at 7,250 rpm, per Ferrari’s technical sheet. |
| Transmission and drive | For the V6 version, Stellantis launch material specifies an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and rear-wheel drive (Stellantis, 2023 launch material). | Eight-speed DCT; the cited technical-sheet excerpt does not establish the drive layout. |
| Battery-electric configuration | Stellantis launch material described a BEV configuration with over 750 hp and an estimated 450 km WLTP range. These are 2023 launch claims, not confirmation here of a separately verified delivered configuration. | Not stated in the cited technical sheet. |
The distinction matters: the Alfa BEV’s launch-material output and range are not specifications for the V6 car, and Ferrari’s stated 830 cv should not be silently relabeled as HP.

Acceleration and maximum speed
| Manufacturer claim | Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale | Ferrari 12Cilindri |
|---|---|---|
| 0–100 km/h | Under 3 seconds, according to Alfa Romeo’s current model page. | 2.9 seconds, according to Ferrari’s technical sheet. |
| Maximum speed | 333 km/h, according to Alfa Romeo’s current model page. | More than 340 km/h, according to Ferrari’s technical sheet. |
Both makers publish very quick 0–100 km/h claims, with Ferrari giving a specific 2.9-second figure and Alfa saying under three seconds. Ferrari’s stated top speed is higher. These are manufacturer claims from separate sources, not independent measurements under shared conditions, so they do not establish a tested performance ranking.
Size, weight and everyday utility
| Specification | Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale | Ferrari 12Cilindri |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Approximately 4,637 mm (Stellantis launch material). | 4,733 mm (Ferrari technical sheet). |
| Width | Approximately 1,966 mm without mirrors, or 2,171 mm with mirrors (Stellantis launch material). | 2,176 mm; the cited Ferrari sheet does not state a mirror qualifier. |
| Height | Approximately 1,226 mm (Stellantis launch material). | 1,292 mm (Ferrari technical sheet). |
| Wheelbase | Approximately 2,700 mm (Stellantis launch material). | 2,700 mm (Ferrari technical sheet). |
| Boot capacity | Not stated in the cited launch material. | 270 litres (Ferrari technical sheet). |
| Weight | No figure stated here on a basis directly comparable with Ferrari’s dry weight. | 1,560 kg dry with optional lightweight content; weight distribution is 48.4% front and 51.6% rear (Ferrari technical sheet). |
The dimensions suggest the 12Cilindri is longer and taller on the published figures, while both cars have a stated wheelbase of about 2,700 mm. The Alfa dimensions are approximate and its width is reported both with and without mirrors; Ferrari’s cited width has no such qualification. Ferrari also publishes a boot volume, making its grand-touring utility more explicitly documented. The weight figures do not support a direct lighter-versus-heavier conclusion because Alfa’s comparable weight basis is not stated here.

Design, heritage and driving modes
Alfa Romeo: a deliberate link to 1967
Alfa Romeo explicitly connects the 33 Stradale to the 1967 car. Its description highlights vertically opening doors, a retracting interior display and a ribbed cabin treatment it calls “Cannelloni.” Those are manufacturer-described design details; whether they are more appealing than the Ferrari’s character is a matter of preference.
Different hardware, no proven handling verdict
Stellantis describes Road and Track modes for the V6 33 Stradale, along with rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed DCT. Ferrari’s cited sheet specifies an eight-speed DCT for the 12Cilindri. The listed hardware helps explain their distinct engineering approaches, but without comparative driving tests it does not establish which car handles better.

Which one makes more sense?
- Choose the 33 Stradale as the point of interest if the draw is Alfa Romeo’s 1967 lineage, bespoke presentation, twin-turbo V6 or the BEV option described in the 2023 launch material.
- Choose the 12Cilindri as the point of interest if the priority is a naturally aspirated V12 grand tourer with a specified 270-litre boot and Ferrari’s published V12 output figures.
- Do not treat the published numbers as a definitive winner. The figures come from separate manufacturers’ specifications, and no controlled comparison establishes an overall performance or handling result.
