Alexander Pollich succeeded Michael Kirsch as President and CEO of Porsche China, Hong Kong and Macao, effective 1 September 2024 at the earliest. Porsche’s announcements do not say that declining sales caused the leadership change. They do, however, show the difficult market context: Porsche reported lower China deliveries in the first half of 2026 amid pressure on the luxury segment and intense competition.
Who replaced Michael Kirsch at Porsche China?
Porsche announced on 20 July 2024 that Alexander Pollich would take over the China leadership role from 1 September 2024 at the earliest. The appointment covered Porsche China, Hong Kong and Macao. Porsche described Pollich as having more than 23 years at the company, with experience in Germany, Canada and the United Kingdom. Porsche Newsroom, 20 July 2024.
Pollich’s stated remit was to safeguard the operating business and carry out a value-oriented, brand-appropriate growth strategy. Porsche also cited closer cooperation with local dealer partners and the optimisation of internal processes and structures. The company thanked Kirsch for his work in China and said he would move to another position within the group; the 2024 announcement did not identify declining sales as the reason for the transition.
What happened to Michael Kirsch after leaving China?
Porsche’s 2 September 2026 sales-organisation announcement identified Kirsch as CEO of Porsche Central and Eastern Europe and said he would become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia from 1 January 2027. That is a planned future appointment as described in the announcement, not a statement that he had already taken up the Australia role. Porsche Newsroom, 2 September 2026.

Is Alexander Pollich still leading Porsche’s China sales region?
Yes. In its 2 September 2026 reorganisation update, Porsche said the China sales region would remain unchanged under Pollich. The announcement framed the broader reorganisation as a way to strengthen regional autonomy and speed decision-making. Matthias Becker, Porsche AG’s Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing, said: “Our markets are a key factor in Porsche’s success. By restructuring, we are strengthening the regions’ autonomy, speeding up decision making, and creating the conditions to implement our strategy even more consistently worldwide.” Porsche Newsroom, 2 September 2026.
How sharply have Porsche sales fallen in China?
Porsche AG reported 14,501 deliveries in China, including Hong Kong, in January–June 2026, a 31.9% decrease from the same period a year earlier. The figure is deliveries to customers, not revenue. Porsche’s half-year report said the passenger-car market in China including Hong Kong was significantly lower than in the prior-year period and that demand in the luxury segment remained negative. It also cited the luxury tax adjustment effective from July 2025 and competition as factors affecting market development. Porsche AG, Half-Year Financial Report 2026.

Porsche said it continued value-oriented sales intended to balance supply and demand. That describes the company’s approach; the report does not establish that any single market factor accounts for the full year-over-year decline.

Porsche delivered 279,449 vehicles worldwide in 2025, down 10.1% from 310,718 in 2024. In its 2026 outlook, Porsche described continued pressure on China’s luxury segment and intense price competition, particularly for fully electric vehicles, as ongoing challenges. Those global figures give context, but they are not directly comparable to the China half-year figure: they cover different periods and geographies. Porsche Newsroom, Annual Press Conference 2026.
