The lowest starting price Harley-Davidson lists for a new U.S. model right now is $9,999+ MSRP for the 2026 Nightster. Beyond that, the company’s official model pages document prices and specifications for only three more bikes: the 2026 Nightster Special, the 2026 Street Bob, and the 2025 Sportster S, along with the 2025 Street Bob and 2025 Nightster for comparison. That is enough to compare entry points on price, seat height, and weight. It is not enough to name ten “affordable” or “perfect” first bikes, because the manufacturer’s pages do not establish used-market prices, ownership costs, or how any model suits a particular rider.
Current starting prices from Harley-Davidson’s official pages
Every figure below is a U.S. manufacturer MSRP or specification as published on Harley-Davidson’s own model pages. Model year matters: the 2025 and 2026 versions of the same bike are not always priced or specified the same way, so each row carries its year.
| Model (U.S. model year) | Starting MSRP | Seat height | Weight | Engine or power figure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Nightster | $9,999+ | 27.1 in | 481 lb wet | Not stated on the cited page |

| 2026 Nightster Special | $12,499+ | 27.1 in laden | 483 lb running order | 91 hp; 52 mpg (figure as listed on Harley-Davidson’s page) |
| 2026 Street Bob | $14,999+ | Not stated on the cited page | Not stated on the cited page | Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine (displacement and output not stated on the cited page) |
| 2025 Street Bob | $15,999+ | 25.8 in laden | Not stated on the cited page | 98 hp; 120 ft-lb torque; 47 mpg (as listed on Harley-Davidson’s page) |
| 2025 Sportster S | $15,999+ | Not stated on the cited page | Not stated on the cited page | Revolution Max 1250T: 121 hp; 93 ft-lb torque (as listed on Harley-Davidson’s page) |

“Not stated” means the cited Harley-Davidson page did not give that value in the material reviewed, not that the bike lacks it. Check the live page before you rely on any blank cell.

Why the list stops at four bikes
A ranked list of ten affordable models would need a price and a set of specifications for each one, plus evidence of what those bikes sell for used. The official sources reviewed here cover only the models above. They do not include independent affordability studies, used-market valuations, or ownership-cost data, so any ranking beyond these four would rest on opinion rather than verifiable facts. Treat the four models below as the documented starting points, not as a finished shortlist.
The four documented entry points
2026 Nightster and 2025 Nightster ($9,999+ MSRP)
The Nightster is the lowest-priced new model in the official pricing reviewed. The 2025 Nightster page lists a six-speed transmission, belt final drive, ABS, traction control, and drag-torque slip control. The 2026 page gives a 27.1-inch seat height and 481 lb wet weight. Because the 2025 page lists a 27-inch seat height and the 2026 page lists 27.1 inches, confirm the exact figure for the year you are considering.

2026 Nightster Special ($12,499+ MSRP)
The Nightster Special costs $2,500 more than the base Nightster at the starting MSRP. Harley-Davidson’s page lists 91 hp, a 27.1-inch laden seat height, 483 lb running-order weight, and 52 mpg, and it describes ABS and traction control as part of the bike. Harley’s marketing copy calls it a bike that “takes classic Sportster attitude and rebuilds it for right now,” which is promotional language, not a measured claim.
2026 Street Bob ($14,999+ MSRP) and 2025 Street Bob ($15,999+ MSRP)
The 2026 Street Bob starts $1,000 below the 2025 version’s listed price. The 2026 page describes a Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine, selectable ride modes, USB-C charging, and standard rider safety enhancements. The 2025 Street Bob page lists 98 hp, a 25.8-inch laden seat height, 47 mpg, and 120 ft-lb of torque, and says ABS, traction control, drag-torque slip control, and TPMS are standard. Note that the 2025 and 2026 pages describe different engines and equipment levels, so do not carry the 2025 figures over to the 2026 bike.

2025 Sportster S ($15,999+ MSRP)
The Sportster S is the only model in this group with a documented Revolution Max 1250T engine, listed at 121 hp and 93 ft-lb of torque. Harley-Davidson’s page for the 2025 model is the only official price reviewed for it, so no 2026 starting price is established here.
What the MSRP leaves out
MSRP is the manufacturer’s suggested starting price, not the amount you will pay. Taxes, title, licensing, dealer fees, and factory or dealer options all add to the total, and they vary by state and dealer. A $9,999 starting price can end up well above that once you add those items. The same caution applies to used bikes: the official pages cannot tell you what a 2019 Nightster or a 2022 Street Bob sells for today, so check current used listings and a valuation source before comparing a used bike to any of the new prices above.

How to check fit before you commit
Harley-Davidson’s 2025 model index lets you sort by riding position, foot controls, color, engine type, and storage, and the company encourages buyers to book a test ride. A low seat height is only one measurement. It does not show whether the handlebar reach, foot-control position, or weight will feel manageable to you.
- Sit on the bike at a dealer with your normal riding gear, and note whether you can reach the ground with both feet, or with the balls of your feet, at a stop.
- Check reach to the grips and foot controls while seated, and confirm the bike’s position suits your height and arm length.
- Move the bike off its stand, if the dealer allows it, to judge its weight and balance at low speed.
- Ask which model year and trim the displayed bike is, and confirm which equipment (ABS, traction control, ride modes) it has.
- Ask for the out-the-door price in writing, including taxes, title, licensing, and dealer fees.
- Take a test ride on roads you would really use, and ride the bike in a parking lot before leaving the dealer.
If you are buying used, add an independent pre-purchase inspection and check the title and service history before you agree to a price.
