The AERWINS XTURISMO Limited Edition made its U.S. debut at the Detroit Auto Show in September 2022. The demonstration drew attention as a flying vehicle, but it was a historical product showcase—not evidence that a road-legal, FAA-approved hoverbike became available to U.S. buyers.
What is the hoverbike at the Detroit Auto Show?
It was the AERWINS XTURISMO Limited Edition, which the company described as an air-mobility vehicle. AERWINS called the Detroit appearance its first in the United States. The company said the event included a demonstration of flight performance and media test rides; The Register’s September 2022 report described the Detroit demonstration as remotely controlled. Those accounts do not establish autonomous operation or ordinary consumer use.
AERWINS’ event announcement quoted CEO Shuhei Komatsu saying, “Our vision is to become the leading company in the Air Mobility Eco-Sci System.” That statement expresses the company’s ambition, not an independently verified assessment of the vehicle or its market.
What specifications did AERWINS publish?
The company’s XTURISMO product page, accessed in 2026, lists the following figures. They are manufacturer-published specifications, not results from an independent performance study.

| Specification | AERWINS product page |
|---|---|
| Power source | Internal-combustion engine plus battery |
| Weight | 300 kg |
| Dimensions | 3.7 m long, 2.4 m wide, 1.5 m high |
| Maximum range | 40 km |
| Maximum speed | 80–100 km/h |
| Recommended payload | About 100 kg |
The speed figure varies across AERWINS materials. Its 2023 Form 10-K states a maximum speed of 80 km/h, rather than the 80–100 km/h range shown on the product page. The report gives the same overall dimensions. The available sources do not explain the discrepancy, so the figures should be attributed to their respective publications rather than treated as a single settled specification. See the 2023 Form 10-K.
How much does the XTURISMO cost?
The Register reported an asking price of $777,000 in September 2022. That is a historical reported price, not a current quote. AERWINS’ product page does not establish a current U.S. price or sales channel.

Can you buy or fly the XTURISMO in the U.S.?
The available sources do not establish that the XTURISMO is currently in production, available for delivery, or being sold in the United States. Nor do they establish U.S. approval to fly it. The Detroit demonstration and a past asking price are not proof of present-day consumer availability or permission to operate it.
In October 2023, AERWINS announced that it planned to redesign the XTURISMO and seek FAA approval. The announcement describes a plan, not a completed certification. It can be read in the company’s October 9, 2023 filing with the SEC.

A later AERWINS prospectus says that A.L.I. Technologies discontinued operations in December 2023, including further XTURISMO development, and filed for bankruptcy. That filing does not establish what may have happened to the product or its sales after the filing, but it makes it especially important not to infer current availability from the 2022 debut. See the SEC-filed prospectus.
