There was no single set of ten verified “new” adventure bikes for 2024 in the available manufacturer announcements. The confirmed launches instead include BMW’s redesigned F-series GS range, Honda’s 2024 Africa Twin platform updates, and India-market KTM color refreshes. Those distinctions matter: a redesign, a platform update and a new paint option are not equivalent changes.
This retrospective covers models introduced, updated or announced for model year 2024, based on manufacturer material from BMW, Honda and KTM. Specifications and prices are market-specific; BMW’s prices below are historical U.S. launch MSRPs, Honda’s cited lineup announcement concerns Europe, and KTM’s color announcement concerns India.
What was genuinely new for 2024?
Among the verified announcements, BMW’s F 800 GS, F 900 GS and F 900 GS Adventure were redesigned 2024 models. Honda announced 2024 updates to the Africa Twin platform. KTM’s February 2024 India announcement was a color refresh for existing 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure models, not a next-generation redesign.
That next-generation KTM 390 Adventure belongs to model year 2025: KTM says it was unveiled at EICMA on November 7, 2024, with full specifications and prices planned for January 2025. It should not be counted as a 2024 model-year launch simply because it was shown during calendar 2024.

BMW’s redesigned 2024 F-series GS models
BMW introduced three redesigned middleweight adventure motorcycles for the U.S. market. The lineup shares a 895 cc parallel-twin engine, but the manufacturer rates the F 800 GS at 87 hp and the two F 900 models at 105 hp. These are BMW-published specifications, not independent test results.
| Model | 2024 model status and intended emphasis | BMW-stated engine and output | U.S. launch MSRP (2024) |
|---|---|---|---|
| F 800 GS | Redesigned; lower-output entry to the F-series lineup | 895 cc; 87 hp at 6,750 rpm | $10,495 plus destination |
| F 900 GS | Redesigned with greater off-road emphasis | 895 cc; 105 hp at 8,500 rpm | $13,495 plus destination |
| F 900 GS Adventure | Redesigned; positioned for short- and long-distance touring on- and off-road | 895 cc; 105 hp at 8,500 rpm | $14,195 plus destination |
BMW described the F 900 GS as more than 30 lb lighter than its predecessor, the F 850 GS. That is the manufacturer’s comparison, not a result from a controlled independent test. BMW estimated a U.S. market launch in early Q2 2024; the listed MSRPs are historical launch figures, not current prices.

F 800 GS: the lower-output option
The F 800 GS shares the 895 cc engine capacity with the F 900 models but has a lower stated output. Its U.S. launch MSRP was the lowest of these three BMWs. That makes it a straightforward starting point for comparing the F-series, but the figures alone do not establish which model is best for a particular rider; intended terrain, equipment and fit also matter.
F 900 GS: more off-road emphasis
BMW framed the F 900 GS around more off-road use and reported a weight reduction against the F 850 GS it replaced. Its 105 hp rating is the same as the Adventure version’s. The manufacturer’s release also describes a rear carrier that supports soft bags and luggage options. For luggage, check model year, carrier and mounting hardware compatibility before buying.

F 900 GS Adventure: touring-oriented setup
BMW positions the F 900 GS Adventure for touring over short or long distances, on pavement and off it. Its U.S. launch MSRP was $700 above the standard F 900 GS, before destination. Consider the difference in intended setup and equipment—not just engine output—when comparing the two.
Honda Africa Twin: 2024 platform updates
Honda’s European 24YM lineup announcement presented the CRF1100L Africa Twin and Africa Twin Adventure Sports at EICMA in November 2023. American Honda separately described advancements to the Africa Twin platform for 2024. The available announcement material establishes that these were platform updates, but does not provide enough verified detail here to compare every specification, price or trim across regions.

- Foreword by Kate DiCamillo
Do not assume the European announcement and U.S. specifications are interchangeable. The cited U.S. release excerpt mentions a 19-inch front wheel and shorter suspension travel for Adventure Sports versions, but those details are not sufficiently verified here to use as a definitive specification. Check the relevant Honda market page and model-year specification sheet before comparing wheel size, suspension or equipment.

In February 2024, KTM India announced new colors for the existing 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure. The 390 Adventure received two new colors, while the 250 Adventure’s color options were also updated. This was a cosmetic refresh, not evidence of a mechanical redesign for 2024.
