Acura’s all-electric RSX crossover is not coming to market: Honda canceled the vehicle’s development and planned North American launch on March 12, 2026. The RSX Prototype Acura unveiled in 2025 previewed a planned premium performance SUV, but it never became a production model.
Is the Acura RSX EV still coming?
No. Honda announced on March 12, 2026, that it had canceled development and the planned North American market launch of the Acura RSX, alongside the Honda 0 SUV and Honda 0 Saloon. There is no production RSX to order or buy as a result of that program.
Honda said the decision followed a reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy. The company said producing and selling the three vehicles in the prevailing business environment would likely lead to further long-term losses. That was Honda’s stated rationale for the cancellations, not a separate finding about the RSX alone. Honda’s March 12, 2026 announcement gives the company’s explanation.
What the RSX Prototype was supposed to become
Acura unveiled the RSX Prototype on August 14, 2025, as a preview of a premium performance all-electric SUV. It was a concept for a planned vehicle, not a set of final production specifications. Acura’s prototype announcement described the intended technology and manufacturing plans.

Platform and Ohio production
Acura said the production RSX would be its first model engineered in-house on Honda’s global EV platform and the first electric vehicle produced at Honda’s Ohio EV Hub. Those were plans for the canceled program; they do not establish that an RSX was built for sale or that the facility produced a retail RSX.
ASIMO OS and energy use
The company said the RSX would introduce ASIMO OS, its planned operating system for the vehicle. Acura also described the SUV as capable of serving as mobile energy storage, including providing backup power to a home. Neither feature became a confirmed production specification because the vehicle was canceled before launch.

When was the Acura RSX supposed to come out?
In August 2025, Acura said the production RSX was expected in the second half of 2026. Honda’s March 2026 cancellation superseded that schedule, so the date is historical—not a current release window. Acura had also said in January 2025 that real-world prototype testing was beginning and identified the RSX as the first model planned for the new EV platform, ASIMO OS, and Ohio production. Those statements describe the project’s earlier plans. Acura’s January 2025 announcement records that earlier testing and program context.

Acura’s announcements covered the prototype’s intended role and technology, but the cited official materials do not establish a final production price, range, charging figures, performance numbers, or dealer availability. Since the production program was canceled, the prototype’s planned attributes should not be treated as specifications for a vehicle consumers can buy.
