These are hybrid GTP prototypes, but the available manufacturer and series material does not establish a complete, matched inventory of hybrid-system components or chassis dimensions. The comparison is strongest on the documented engine architectures, named chassis partners and season-specific design updates—not on unreported details such as battery specification, motor output, suspension geometry or weight distribution.
What engines do the Acura ARX-06 and Cadillac V-Series.R use?
Acura ARX-06: 2.4-liter twin-turbo V6
Acura identifies a bespoke 2.4-liter twin-turbo V6 for the ARX-06. It is the smaller-displacement engine in this comparison, but displacement alone does not show how the cars perform: the prototypes operate under competition regulations, and the available figures do not provide a like-for-like unrestricted engine-output comparison.
Cadillac V-Series.R: 5.5-liter DOHC V8
Cadillac describes the V-Series.R’s engine as a purpose-built 5.5-liter DOHC V8. The V8’s greater displacement and different cylinder layout are clear design distinctions, not proof of an inherent performance advantage over Acura’s turbocharged V6.

IMSA’s Balance of Performance (BoP) adjusts competition parameters. A BoP power percentage should not be read as the engine’s underlying design output, and a single event’s settings cannot establish which prototype is inherently faster.
Chassis partners and aerodynamic design
Acura explicitly names ORECA as the ARX-06’s LMDh chassis partner and describes the bodywork and aerodynamics as Acura-specific. Cadillac’s 2026 IMSA announcement names Dallara as its chassis constructor and development partner, alongside Cadillac Design and Cadillac Racing.

Those partnerships distinguish the development packages, but the cited material does not provide a comparable set of chassis dimensions or component specifications. It would be misleading to infer differences in wheelbase, suspension geometry or other unreported design details from the partner names alone.
What changed for the 2026 season?
Acura ARX-06
Honda.Racing’s 2026 ARX-06 page says Acura Meyer Shank Racing fielded two prototypes, numbers 60 and 93. It reports offseason changes to the front and rear aero, side pods and engine cover to accommodate new exhaust rules for the 2026 IMSA season. These describe the 2026 configuration, not every version of the ARX-06.

Cadillac V-Series.R
IMSA’s January 2026 announcement said Cadillac would field three V-Series.R GTP entries across its nine-race WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign. It also described the 2026 program’s use of the EVO package in line with the aero homologation cycle. The entry count is a season-program detail, not a specification of the car itself.
What the Detroit 2026 BoP figures do—and do not—show
IMSA’s Detroit technical bulletin, dated May 22, 2026, lists the following event-specific GTP settings. They describe the regulatory configuration for that event, not immutable design specifications or a universal comparison of the cars.

The values are useful for understanding how IMSA configured the cars for Detroit. They do not reveal the cars’ unrestricted output, establish a permanent weight or energy allowance, or prove which one is faster. BoP varies with competition context, so any comparison should name the event and date.

It is both, in different contexts. LMDh describes the prototype platform category used in its construction; GTP is IMSA’s top-level class in which the ARX-06 races. The Cadillac V-Series.R also competes in IMSA GTP as an LMDh prototype. The class label alone does not make the two cars mechanically identical.

Which prototype is better?
The documented facts support a design comparison, not a universal winner. The Acura combines an ORECA chassis with a 2.4-liter twin-turbo V6 and Acura-specific aero; the Cadillac combines Dallara chassis development with a 5.5-liter DOHC V8 and its own design and aero program. Event results, track conditions, team execution and the applicable BoP settings matter to race outcomes, and the listed Detroit settings cannot stand in for a matched performance test.
