In a 2018 report, Carscoops credited the artwork to automotive designer Ihor Alekseev: it uses the Dodge Challenger as its visual foundation and adds retro-inspired details.
What does the rendering change?
The car keeps a recognizably Challenger-like front, but the rendering reworks the bumper, hood and front splitter. Small vents on the front quarter panels and bespoke wheels add further visual changes.
At the rear, the design uses squared taillights, a revised bumper, a small trunk-lid spoiler and rectangular tailpipes. Black graphics complete the treatment. The changes are styling ideas; the report does not establish new engineering or factory parts.
Carscoops journalist Brad Anderson summed up the look as “a Dodge Challenger with some retro-inspired parts,” adding that it “does look pretty good.” His comment appeared in Carscoops on October 12, 2018, and is an assessment of the artwork—not a manufacturer statement. Read the Carscoops report.

Is the modern Barracuda real?
No. The pictured car is concept artwork based on a Dodge Challenger, not a factory Plymouth Barracuda. Carscoops described a new Barracuda as extremely unlikely in 2018. A more recent SlashGear report on 2026 Barracuda rumors says Stellantis had not announced a new Barracuda and notes that Plymouth left the market in 2001. The available reporting does not establish an official revival announcement; rumor headlines and renderings are not evidence that a production model is planned.
How does the design relate to the original Barracuda?
Plymouth built the Barracuda from 1964 through 1974, according to the 2018 Carscoops and DriveMag reports. The nameplate began as a Plymouth model, distinct from the later Dodge Challenger. The early Barracuda was based on the Plymouth Valiant.

For the 1970 model year, the Barracuda was redesigned as an E-body car, alongside the Dodge Challenger. That historical relationship is useful context, but it does not make this modern rendering a shared factory vehicle: its reported basis is a contemporary Challenger, and its connection to the Barracuda is imaginative styling. What about real Challenger-to-Cuda conversions?
A physical custom build exists, but it is separate from Alekseev’s rendering. Mecum documents a 2021 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack converted by Modern Classix to represent a 1971 Plymouth Cuda. The custom used handmade fiberglass panels while retaining the car’s original metal structure. It is a modified Challenger, not a factory Barracuda. See Mecum’s listing for the custom car.

Who made the image?
Carscoops credits Ihor Alekseev for a related 2018 rendering. That credit alone does not prove that every image circulating under a similar title is the same artwork or that it is cleared for reuse. The image aggregation page associated with the exact-title wording does not identify its creator or reuse rights. The aggregation page should not be treated as proof of image provenance; confirm the source and permission before republishing an image.
