What was spotted?
Autoblog reported spy photos on July 23, 2025, of a suspected 992.2-generation 911 GT2 RS prototype. Road & Track separately described an apparent next-generation GT2 RS prototype at the Nürburgring. Both outlets identify the car as a suspected GT2 RS, not as a model Porsche has officially confirmed. Autoblog’s spy-photo report and Road & Track’s Nürburgring report document the sightings.
An earlier video published by CarSpyMedia on May 29, 2024, described its subject as a potential 992 GT2 RS test mule. That earlier identification was also tentative; the video publisher’s engine and launch predictions were speculation, not Porsche announcements. What do the spy photos and video show?
Modified rear and front bodywork
Autoblog noted widened rear-fender treatment, replacement front fenders, and other visible aerodynamic changes. These are observations of a test prototype, whose panels and aero parts may be temporary or may differ from the production car. They are not proof of the final body shape or equipment.

A reported turbocharged exhaust note
Road & Track described the prototype’s exhaust note as turbocharged. That is an outlet’s impression from the sighting, not confirmation of the engine’s configuration. The available material does not establish the production car’s engine, hybrid status, or output.
Is the 992 GT2 RS confirmed to be hybrid, and how much power will it make?
No. The cited reports do not include a Porsche announcement confirming a road-going 992 GT2 RS, much less its final powertrain or output. Hybrid assistance, engine layout, and very high power figures have appeared as reporting, expectations, or rumors; none should be treated as settled specifications. The test-car identification itself remains an assessment by the outlets covering the sightings.

Porsche’s official 2021 announcement of the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 concerns a separate racing special based on the GT2 RS. It does not confirm a new road car or provide specifications for the suspected 992 prototype.
Is there an official price or release date?
No official price or arrival date for the suspected 992 road car is established in the cited material. Any timing or price mentioned in speculation should be read as an estimate, not a Porsche commitment. A firm answer requires an announcement from Porsche.

What can be compared with the previous GT2 RS?
Not enough is confirmed to make a meaningful specification comparison. The sightings do not establish production weight, drivetrain, performance, track equipment, or official pricing for the 992.2 car. When Porsche releases reliable production data, compare it with the prior GT2 RS using those confirmed figures; avoid carrying over an older model’s numbers as if they describe this prototype.
