Which Grand Cherokee vehicles are covered?
NHTSA recall 25V576, filed by Chrysler (FCA US, LLC), lists 91,787 potentially involved model-year 2022–2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEVs produced from July 23, 2021, through August 29, 2025. The affected vehicles are plug-in hybrids; the filing does not identify all Grand Cherokee SUVs as affected. The count is the potentially involved population, not the number known to have stalled. The filing estimates that 1% of the population has the defect. NHTSA recall filing 25V576.
What is the safety problem?
The recall report says an overload of the battery pack control module (BPCM) microprocessor may trigger a reset. The hybrid control processor (HCP) may misinterpret a signal from that reset, potentially causing the vehicle to lose propulsion. Chrysler’s filing states: “An unexpected loss of propulsion can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” The report lists no warning that may occur. This is a potential risk, not a claim that every affected SUV will stall. NHTSA recall filing 25V576.
How to check whether your Jeep has an open recall
- Find your 17-character VIN, usually visible through the windshield at the driver-side dashboard or on vehicle registration and insurance documents.
- Enter it in the NHTSA recall lookup or Mopar recall lookup to check for an unrepaired recall.
- If the recall does not appear but you believe your vehicle may be included, contact a Jeep dealer and ask them to check your VIN. NHTSA notes that VIN results may not include a newly announced recall while the manufacturer is still identifying all affected VINs; check again later if needed. A model year within the listed range does not confirm that a specific SUV is affected, and it does not show whether a repair has already been completed. A current VIN result or dealer confirmation is needed to establish your vehicle’s status.

What is the recall repair?
The filed remedy is to reprogram the HCP. Mopar says safety recall repairs are free. Contact a Jeep dealer to arrange the repair and confirm the current status for your VIN; the recall filing alone does not establish whether the remedy has been completed for a particular vehicle. As of August 18, 2025, FCA US reported 96 customer assistance records, 110 field reports, and 320 other service records potentially related to the issue across all markets. The company said it was not aware of related accidents or injuries as of that date. These are dated, potentially related records—not confirmed failures or current totals. NHTSA recall filing 25V576.
