For the 2025 model year, eight configurations across four model families were reported to offer a factory CD player: two Subaru Outback trims, one Subaru Legacy trim, three Lexus IS variants and two Lexus RC variants. This is a model-year-specific list, not a guide to cars currently sold new in 2026.
Which 2025 cars had CD players?
SlashGear’s March 2, 2025 article counted eight configurations, not eight distinct nameplates. Its list and reported equipment details are below; the availability and player locations are attributed to that article, rather than presented as independently confirmed manufacturer specifications.

Why this is not a current new-car buying list
The list describes 2025 model-year equipment. Later secondary reporting says the 2026 Outback redesign dropped its CD player, the Lexus IS was redesigned without one, and the RC was discontinued. That reporting does not establish a complete, manufacturer-confirmed list of CD-equipped 2026 cars, so treat the named 2025 configurations as historical offerings and verify the equipment for a specific model year and trim with the automaker or dealer. What to use if your car has no disc drive
A portable CD player is the closest alternative if you want to keep playing discs, but the connection has to match the vehicle’s audio system. Portable players may connect through Bluetooth or USB; USB playback and control depend on the car’s head unit, so check the car’s inputs and the player’s compatibility before buying. Coverage of these alternatives is secondary, not a compatibility guarantee (Auto Vibis).

If your collection is already digitized, a USB flash drive can be an option only when the car supports music playback from USB. It does not read CDs. The right choice depends on whether you need to play physical discs and which audio connections your vehicle actually supports.
