The title’s original count of 10 cannot be verified from that information, so this is a six-car shortlist rather than an invented top 10. Manual availability can depend on trim.

All output figures above are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. The body styles and powertrains offer a quick sense of the range: a two-seat roadster, coupes, other sports cars, and a performance hatchback. They do not establish comparative acceleration, handling, clutch feel or reliability.
What to know about each car
Mazda MX-5 Miata: a roadster with trim-specific transmission choices
Mazda lists a six-speed manual for the 2026 MX-5. The Sport and Club trims are manual-only, while Grand Touring can be configured with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. That distinction matters if a particular trim is part of your shortlist: the manual is not an option across every trim in the same way.
Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ: two coupes, separately specified
Toyota lists both a six-speed manual and an automatic for the 2026 GR86, whose naturally aspirated 2.4-liter boxer engine is rated at 228 hp and 184 lb-ft. Toyota describes the car as having a low center of gravity.

Subaru lists a six-speed manual, close ratios and a standard short-throw shifter for the 2026 BRZ, with a 2.4-liter boxer engine rated at 228 hp. The cited Subaru product information does not state an automatic alternative. Although these cars share a broad layout and the same stated horsepower, those facts alone do not establish that they drive identically.
Honda Civic Type R: a manual performance hatchback
The 2026 Civic Type R pairs a six-speed manual with rev-match control and a manufacturer-rated 315 hp and 310 lb-ft. It is a high-performance hatchback, not a two-seat coupe or roadster. Honda lists a U.S. starting MSRP of $47,395; that published starting price can change, and it is not a guarantee of a dealer’s price or inventory.

Nissan Z: check the trim before assuming it has a stick
Nissan lists a six-speed manual or nine-speed automatic for the 2026 Z, powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 400 hp. The 2026 brochure specifies the manual for Sport and Performance; NISMO is automatic-only in that specification. Confirm the trim-level configuration rather than relying on the model name alone.
Toyota GR Supra: manual options in a final production run
Toyota says the 2026 GR Supra is its final production run and lists a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic for the 3.0, 3.0 Premium and MkV Final Edition. Toyota rates its 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six at 382 hp. The final-run statement describes Toyota’s model-year lineup; it does not establish how long a particular dealer will have cars available.

How to choose and verify a manual configuration
- Start with the kind of car you want. The MX-5 is the two-seat roadster in this group; the GR86 and BRZ are coupes; the Civic Type R is a performance hatchback. The Z and Supra add other sports-car formats.
- Match the exact trim to the transmission. The Miata’s manual-only trims and the Z’s trim-specific manual availability show why a model-level listing is not enough. Toyota lists manual choices for the named 2026 Supra trims, but verify the exact vehicle configuration.
- Check the manufacturer’s current page or brochure. Confirm transmission, engine and trim for the model year and U.S. market you are considering. Specifications and dealer offerings can change.
- Confirm local inventory and pricing with a dealer. A manufacturer’s advertised configuration does not prove a specific car is in stock nearby or that it will be sold at its listed starting price.
What this shortlist does—and does not—compare
The manufacturer figures show a stated-output range from 181 hp for the MX-5 to 400 hp for the Nissan Z among the listed examples with comparable published engine-output figures. Horsepower is not a substitute for independent acceleration, handling, reliability or transmission-feel comparisons, none of which are established by these specifications. The shortlist identifies advertised 2026 U.S. configurations; it is not a road-test ranking or a claim that these are the only manual sports cars available in every market or model year.
