The six models below come from Gadget Review’s 2025 testing and research, but they are not a universal industry ranking. More importantly, their advertised range, top speed, weight, weather resistance, and legal status vary dramatically.
For a car-focused buyer, the practical question is not simply which scooter is fastest. It is whether you can lift it into a vehicle, whether it fits your commute, whether its real-world range matches your route, and whether you can legally ride it where you live.

“Advertised range” is a best-case figure, not a promise for normal riding. Rider weight, speed, hills, temperature, tire pressure, wind, and stop-and-go traffic can all reduce it.
1. Ausom DT2 Pro: best for high-performance riding
The Ausom DT2 Pro is the most aggressive all-rounder in this group. It uses dual 1,100-watt motors, a 52V 23.4Ah battery, 10-by-3-inch tires, hydraulic front and rear disc brakes, and electronic ABS. Ausom lists a 297-pound maximum load and an IP54 rating.
#1 Best Overall
- POWERFUL MOTOR & 20 MPH TOP SPEED: Electric scooters is equipped with a powerful 500W peak motor, reaches speeds of up to 18 MPH for a smooth and efficient ride. making it perfect for daily commutes and city travel.
- LONG BATTERY LIFE: Foldable Scooter uses a 36V 7.8AH powerful battery built for short trips to school, work, or around the neighborhood without the worry of running out of battery
- SMART APP CONTROL: Connect your electric scooter to the mobile app for convenient operation and real-time monitoring. Use the app to activate the electronic lock, view real-time speed, switch speed units, adjust riding modes, control the headlight, and enable cruise control for a smarter and more customizable riding experience.
- 8.5" PNEUMATIC TIRES & IPX4 WATER RESISTANCE: This fast electric scooter has 8.5-inch air-filled tires that provide shock absorption and grip, which easily climb 20° slopes. With an IP65 waterproof rating, it can withstand splashes and light rain, making it a reliable choice for commuters and adventure seekers alike.
- PORTABLE & FOLDABLE: ONE-STEP FOLDING: To collapse the scooter in just 3 seconds and hold up to 220lb, which is easy to carry and store, ideal for commutes, subways, offices, or car trunks, making it ideal for adults and teens alike.
Its headline specification claims a 42-mph top speed and up to 71 miles of range. Gadget Review’s mixed-use testing produced approximately 38 miles, which is the more useful number for planning a real trip. The DT2 Pro’s motor output and hydraulic braking make it better suited to steep terrain and faster private-road riding than a typical commuter scooter.
There is a specification inconsistency worth noting: Ausom’s headline says the scooter can climb a 53% grade, while its detailed specification table says 46%. Neither figure should be treated as an independently verified hill-climbing result.
The main drawback is its approximately 74-pound weight. Folding does not make a scooter this heavy convenient to carry up stairs or transfer repeatedly between a car and a destination. It is a strong choice for performance-oriented riders with storage at ground level, but a poor choice for a daily train connection or apartment stairwell.

The Segway GT2 is closer to a high-performance recreational machine than a conventional last-mile commuter. Its dual 1,500-watt motors can propel it to approximately 43.5 mph, and its maximum payload is about 330 pounds. The large, stable platform and substantial chassis are intended to keep the scooter composed at speeds where ordinary commuter models feel out of their depth.
Segway lists a theoretical 55.9-mile range, but also gives a typical range of approximately 37.3 miles. The controlled maximum-range test uses conditions including a roughly 165-pound rider, 77-degree Fahrenheit weather, pavement, and an average speed of 12.4 mph. Riding near its top speed will reduce range considerably.
At approximately 116.8 pounds, the GT2 is not realistically portable. It requires a ramp, a large vehicle, or a permanent storage location; lifting it into a sedan trunk is not a sensible routine task for most owners.
There is also a legal-use issue that matters more than its performance figures. Segway’s official GT2P page says the scooter is for racetracks and/or private property, subject to local regulations. Check state and local rules before considering it for public roads, bike lanes, or ordinary commuting.
3. Kaabo Wolf Warrior X Plus: best performance scooter with somewhat smaller dimensions
The Kaabo Wolf Warrior X Plus sits between the Ausom and Segway in performance and portability. It has dual 1,100-watt motors, a 60V 21Ah battery, hydraulic disc brakes with EABS, a listed 44-mph top speed, and a 265-pound maximum load. Kaabo gives it a 35-degree climbing angle.
Kaabo claims up to 44 miles of range, based on a 165-pound rider traveling at 15 mph on flat ground. That test condition is much less demanding than fast riding on hills, so owners should expect less range when using the scooter’s performance capability.
The manufacturer lists a net weight of 81 pounds. That is slightly heavier than the approximately 79 pounds reported by Gadget Review, but either figure makes this a vehicle for riding rather than carrying. It can fold for storage, though the folded dimensions and weight still need to be considered if it will travel in a car.
Charging takes approximately 7.8 hours with two standard chargers, according to Kaabo. With two 5A fast chargers, the stated time drops to approximately 2.7 hours. Fast charging can be useful for repeated recreational rides, but prospective owners should confirm which chargers are included and follow the manufacturer’s charging guidance.

The Gotrax GMAX Ultra is the most conventional commuter in the performance half of this list. It has a 20-mph top speed, 10-inch pneumatic tires, one-touch folding, an integrated lock, and a 36V 17.5Ah LG battery. Gotrax lists a 500-watt average motor rating, up to 45 miles of range, and a 220-pound payload capacity.
Gadget Review recorded approximately 24 miles in real-world use and estimated a four-to-six-hour charging time. That makes it a better fit for a moderate daily commute than for long recreational routes. Pneumatic tires should provide more cushioning than solid tires, although they introduce puncture and tire-pressure maintenance that solid-tire scooters avoid.
The GMAX Ultra’s official product page specifically states that it is certified under UL 2272. That certification claim should not be generalized to the other scooters on this list; certification must be checked model by model and, where applicable, against the exact market version being sold.
For drivers using a scooter to bridge the gap between a parking area and an office, the GMAX Ultra offers a more sensible balance than the 40-mph-plus machines. It is still too large for some car trunks, so measure the folded scooter and your cargo opening before ordering.
5. Unagi Model One Voyager: best for portability and design
The Unagi Model One Voyager prioritizes a compact, lightweight form over ride comfort and long-distance range. It reaches 20 mph, produces up to 1,000 watts of peak power, and carries a maximum advertised range of 25 miles.
Rank #2
- 【500W Motor & 21 MPH Top Speed】 This electric scooter powered by a 500W rated motor, reaches up to 21 MPH, perfect for city commuting, outdoor travel & campus cycling
- 【21 Miles Max Range】 This electric scooter for adults and teens rides up to 18–21 miles per charge with the high-capacity 36V 7.8AH battery. Fully recharges in 4 hours, giving you long rides with less waiting time
- 【8.5" Honeycomb Solid Tires & 20° Hill Climb】 8.5-inch honeycomb tires provide maintenance-free riding, solid grip, and smooth shock absorption, while easily conquering slopes up to 20°
- 【Dual Braking System + Bright Lights + IPX4】 This escooter features both electronic and rear drum brakes for reliable stopping power. Equipped with a bright headlight, rear taillight, and IPX4 waterproof rating for safe riding day or night in light rain
- 【Portable, Foldable & Lightweight】 This foldable electric scooter weighs only 35.1 lbs and supports riders up to 264 lbs. When folded, it measures 44.1"×16.7"×16.1", making it easy to carry or store in offices, subways, or car trunks
Gadget Review reports approximately 10 to 12 miles in typical city conditions. That is a substantial gap from the headline number, but it is a more realistic planning figure for urban stop-and-go riding. The Voyager’s solid tires eliminate punctures, but they transmit more vibration than pneumatic tires, particularly over broken pavement, expansion joints, and rough sidewalks.
This is the most attractive option here for someone who must carry a scooter into a building or place it in a vehicle frequently. The trade-off is that the scooter’s portability does not make it a good substitute for a longer-range commuter bike. It is best viewed as a short-trip or last-mile tool.
Availability is another practical concern. Unagi’s current checkout page indicates that the Model One Voyager is sold out and displays a 90-day shipping estimate. Confirm inventory and delivery timing before making plans around this model.

6. Hiboy S2: best lightweight budget option
The Hiboy S2 is the simplest and lightest model in the group. It weighs approximately 35.5 pounds and uses a 350-watt rated motor with 500 watts of peak output. Its listed top speed is 19 mph, with up to 17 miles of range and a 220-pound maximum load.
Its 8.5-inch honeycomb tires resist punctures, while rear suspension helps offset some of the harshness associated with solid tires. Gadget Review reports approximately 14 miles of real-world range, but also notes that uneven pavement can feel rough and that the folding latch may be finicky.
The S2 includes app controls for locking, riding modes, lights, and cruise control. Those features are useful, but an app lock should not replace physically securing the scooter in public. The scooter’s IPX4 rating means limited splash resistance, not waterproofing. Hiboy advises against heavy rain, snow, ice, puddles, and wet-road riding.
For a short commute, campus trips, or occasional car-to-destination use, the S2’s lower weight is its strongest advantage. Buyers should not expect the acceleration, braking hardware, hill performance, or ride comfort of the heavier dual-motor models.
How to choose among the six
- Start with your legal riding area. A high-speed scooter may be restricted to private property, banned from roads, or subject to speed, equipment, helmet, and registration rules. The Segway GT2 deserves particular scrutiny because Segway identifies racetracks and private property as its use locations on the official page.
- Calculate range using the real-world figure. For example, a 12-mile round trip leaves little margin on the Unagi if its typical range is 10–12 miles. Choose a scooter with at least a useful buffer for cold weather, hills, and battery aging.
- Measure the vehicle, not just the scooter. A 74-pound DT2 Pro or 116.8-pound GT2 may technically fold, but that does not mean it can be safely lifted into a trunk. Check the folded length, trunk opening, cargo floor, and your ability to secure the scooter.
- Match tires to the roads. Pneumatic tires on the GMAX Ultra offer cushioning but can puncture. Solid or honeycomb tires on the Unagi and Hiboy reduce puncture risk but generally deliver a firmer ride.
- Check the payload limit. Include the rider, backpack, work equipment, and any accessories. Exceeding the stated maximum load can affect acceleration, braking, handling, and component durability.
- Confirm certification and weather limits. Do not assume that one model’s UL 2272 listing applies to all six. Likewise, IP ratings do not make a scooter safe to ride through deep water or heavy rain.
What “according to experts” means here
This particular list reflects Gadget Review’s editorial testing and research, including factors such as speed, range, hill climbing, braking, build quality, folding design, battery reliability, and safety certifications. It is not a consensus ranking from multiple independent publications. Other 2025 buying guides selected different best overall models, including the NIU 300P and Segway Ninebot Max G2.
That distinction matters because “best” depends heavily on use. A 43-mph scooter is not automatically better than a 19-mph scooter if the owner needs to carry it upstairs, store it in a compact car, or ride only six miles each way.
FAQ
Which of these electric scooters has the longest advertised range?
The Ausom DT2 Pro has the highest advertised maximum at up to 71 miles. Gadget Review reports approximately 38 miles in mixed real-world riding, so that figure is more useful for planning than the manufacturer maximum.
Which scooter is easiest to carry in a car?
The Hiboy S2, at approximately 35.5 pounds, is the easiest to lift among the models with a stated weight. The Unagi Model One Voyager is also designed around portability, while the 74-pound Ausom, 81-pound Kaabo, and 116.8-pound Segway are poor choices for frequent lifting.
Recommended Free Tools
Is the Segway GT2 street legal?
Do not assume it is. Segway’s official GT2P page says the scooter is for racetracks and/or private property, subject to local regulations. Check the laws in the exact city, state, or country where you plan to ride.
Are these scooters waterproof?
No. The Hiboy S2 is rated IPX4, which provides limited splash resistance, and the Ausom DT2 Pro is rated IP54. Those ratings do not mean the scooters can safely be ridden through heavy rain, puddles, flooding, or submerged conditions.
The Bottom Line
The Gotrax GMAX Ultra is the most practical choice here for ordinary commuting, while the Hiboy S2 makes more sense when low weight and price matter most. Choose the Unagi Model One Voyager for short trips and frequent carrying, not for its maximum-range claim. The Ausom DT2 Pro and Kaabo Wolf Warrior X Plus are performance machines that demand storage space and careful legal checks. The Segway GT2 is the most extreme—and the least suitable for normal public-road commuting.
Before buying, verify current inventory, local regulations, certification for the exact model, and the manufacturer’s latest specifications. The numbers that matter most are the scooter’s actual weight, usable range, braking performance, and where you are legally allowed to ride it.
