The 2025 BMW M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive gets a 20-hp increase, while the model also receives revised headlights and wheels, a redesigned steering wheel and trim choices, and BMW Operating System 8.5. The changes and figures below apply to BMW’s U.S. M3 sedan lineup; they should not be assumed to cover other markets or the M3 Touring.
BMW’s May 2024 announcement names these 2025 updates but does not provide a complete 2024-versus-2025 equipment comparison. The list therefore focuses on changes BMW explicitly identifies, rather than treating every 2025 specification as new.
1. The Competition with M xDrive gains 20 horsepower
For 2025, BMW raises output of the M3 Competition Sedan with M xDrive by 20 hp to 523 hp at 6,250 rpm. The other two U.S. sedan configurations remain distinct: the manual M3 is rated at 473 hp, and the rear-wheel-drive M3 Competition at 503 hp. The increase applies to the xDrive Competition, not the entire M3 range.
BMW lists a 0–60 mph time of 3.4 seconds for the 2025 Competition with M xDrive. Its published 2025 U.S. base MSRP is $85,300 before $1,175 destination and handling; BMW did not provide a 2024 price comparison in the announcement, so that figure does not establish a year-over-year price change. 2. The exterior gets redesigned headlights and new wheels
The 2025 sedan’s redesigned LED headlights combine the low- and high-beam functions in one module. Sculpted, arrow-shaped LED units serve as both daytime running lights and turn indicators. BMW also identifies new forged alloy wheels and a silver border on Competition trunk badges.
M Shadowline lights are optional, not a standard feature across the lineup. BMW’s 2025 M3 Sedan overview identifies the option for the sedan.

3. The steering wheel and interior trim are revised
The standard M leather steering wheel has a three-spoke layout, flat-bottomed rim, multifunction buttons and a red center marker at the 12-o’clock position. An M Alcantara steering wheel is available as an option.
Standard Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite trim is joined by optional M Carbon Fiber and new M Fine Brushed Aluminium trim. The optional Sensatec dashboard also has a refined surface. These are equipment choices, not a claim that every 2025 car includes the optional materials.

4. The Curved Display runs BMW Operating System 8.5
BMW says the M3’s Curved Display runs Operating System 8.5 and includes M-specific graphics, touch controls and natural-language voice interaction. The display combines a 12.3-inch information display with a 14.9-inch control display.
Climate settings, seat heating and, when equipped, steering-wheel heating can be adjusted by touch or voice. The interface update is therefore relevant to everyday controls as well as the presentation of vehicle information.

5. Torque figures vary by drivetrain and variant
The 2025 specifications distinguish the xDrive Competition from both rear-wheel-drive models. BMW lists the following U.S. figures:

BMW describes the upper end of the xDrive’s peak-torque range as higher. The listed figures show why it is important to keep the variants separate: the rear-wheel-drive Competition has the same peak torque but a different stated rpm range, while the standard manual M3 has a different torque figure. The announcement does not provide a full old-versus-new acceleration table for all versions, so it does not establish that every 2025 M3 accelerates faster than its 2024 counterpart.

What the 2025 U.S. prices do—and do not—show
BMW announced these base MSRPs for the 2025 U.S. sedans, each before $1,175 destination and handling: $76,000 for the M3, $80,200 for the M3 Competition, and $85,300 for the M3 Competition with M xDrive. They are 2025 prices only; BMW’s announcement supplies no 2024 comparators, so they cannot show whether prices rose or fell year over year.
BMW said worldwide production phase-in begins in July 2024. The equipment, prices and performance figures in this comparison are from BMW’s U.S. announcement and should not be carried over to other markets or body styles without market-specific confirmation.
