These five budget e-bikes were BGR’s user-review-based picks in an August 2025 roundup—not the results of bike testing, and not a verified Amazon ranking for 2026. The shortlist can help narrow a search, but prices, listings and configurations change; confirm the exact model and its current specifications before buying.
Which cheap Amazon e-bikes made the 2025 shortlist?
BGR’s August 9, 2025 article named these bikes for different use cases. BGR said it had not tested them, so the figures below are specifications or range claims reported by the article, not independently measured results. Treat the categories as a dated guide to what users were discussing, not a current ranking.

All listed range, speed, motor and feature details are BGR-reported claims from 2025. BGR’s historical price ranges are not useful as current Amazon prices: listings and prices change, and the exact seller or configuration may differ. BGR’s original roundup provides the dated category context.
Which one is the best fit for your use?
For a conventional commuter-style bike: Jasion EB5
The EB5 was BGR’s broad overall pick. Its reported seven-speed gearing and hardtail-style setup make it the conventional option in this group, but the cited roundup does not establish how comfortable or durable it is in daily use. A newer budget-bike guide describes a particular EB5 configuration as a 26-inch hardtail with a 500 W rated motor, 20 mph cap, seven speeds, approximate 50 lb weight, 330 lb payload and 360 Wh battery. Those details differ in wording and scope from BGR’s 2025 claims, so don’t combine them as if they describe every EB5 listing. Confirm which version is for sale. Ebike Oracle’s configuration-specific guide also cautions that advertised range can substantially exceed practical range.

The U1 is the shortlist’s explicit small-rider choice, and its folding handlebars, pedals and seat may help with storage. Its reported height range is a starting point, not a guarantee of a comfortable fit: check reach, saddle height, handlebar position and the bike’s folded size against your needs.
For low-step access: Qlife Cityone
The Cityone’s reported low-step frame may be easier to mount than a high top tube, while its stated payload is relevant for heavier loads. Confirm the current listing’s payload and frame dimensions; these figures are not independently verified by BGR.

For longer advertised range: Qlife Racer or Ancheer
The Racer’s reported claim varies by mode—40–45 miles in pedal-assist versus around 20 miles in full-electric use—while the unspecified Ancheer pick was listed at 55 miles in pedal-assist. These are not directly comparable test results. Battery capacity in watt-hours, assist level, terrain, rider and cargo weight, temperature, tire pressure and speed all affect actual distance. A 2026 Amazon-focused guide warns that real-world range is typically below manufacturers’ claims and that product listings can vary. See its budget e-bike buying guide for that general caution.
How to check an Amazon e-bike listing before buying
- Match the exact bike and variant. Check model name, frame size, battery and configuration in the listing, and make sure customer reviews refer to that same version. This is especially important for the Ancheer, which BGR did not identify by model.
- Assess range using battery capacity, not the headline alone. Look for battery watt-hours (Wh) and the conditions attached to any range claim. Compare like with like: pedal-assist figures do not equal full-electric range.
- Check fit, weight and payload. Compare the stated rider-height range, frame geometry, total bike weight and payload with the rider and intended cargo. A bike that folds may still be awkward to lift.
- Inspect braking and service details. Confirm the actual brake type, tire size and availability of replacement parts. User comments about flats are a reason to inspect tire condition and maintenance needs, not proof that every bike has the same problem.
- Look for model-specific battery and electrical safety documentation. A brand’s certification language for selected products does not certify every bike it sells. Jasion’s commuter collection discusses UL 2849 and UL 2271 language for selected models and names SGS, but it does not verify the EB5. Ask for documentation identifying the exact bike and battery rather than relying on a brand-wide claim. Jasion’s current commuter collection is not EB5 certification evidence.
- Verify the seller, support and total price. Confirm who sells and ships the bike, what warranty and service support apply, what assembly is required, and whether the live listing matches the model you researched. Marketplace details can change; the 2025 prices in BGR’s article are historical, not a current quote.
How much should you trust user reviews?
Reviews can reveal recurring ownership issues—such as reported flats or a bike being cumbersome to carry—but they do not substitute for a test ride, product documentation or a check of the exact variant. Ratings and review counts are snapshots, and reviews may be attached to listings that combine different configurations. Read recent comments for specifics about fit, assembly, brakes, battery performance and support rather than treating an average score as proof of safety or reliability.

For context, BGR disclosed that it had not tested the five bikes and that it may earn commission from purchases through its links. Its roundup is useful as a dated map of user-oriented categories; it is not independent performance validation.
