Thirty-four Tesla Cybertrucks were spray-painted with anti-Elon Musk graffiti at a Tesla-leased parking lot in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, overnight between Thursday, June 20, and Friday, June 21, 2024. Police responded Friday morning after the vandalism was discovered, but the available reporting did not identify a suspect, establish a confirmed motive, or show that any vehicle suffered major permanent damage.
What happened in Fort Lauderdale?
The Cybertrucks were parked at an overflow storage lot in Fort Lauderdale’s Victoria Park area, near U.S. 1 and Northeast Ninth Place/19th Avenue. Local reports placed the address at or near 1900 NE 9th Place, although descriptions of the precise location vary slightly between outlets.
The lot was leased by Tesla and was reportedly being used to store or stage the new vehicles. The trucks had apparently been there for roughly three days. Reporting described the location as publicly accessible or unsecured at the time, with no obvious gate, barrier, or visible security presence.
When the vehicles were left on Thursday night, the person responsible for the lot reportedly said they were in good condition. By early Friday morning, spray paint had been applied across exterior areas including hoods, doors, and other stainless-steel body panels.

- SELF-HEALING TECHNOLOGY – Heat-activated polymers make light scratches and swirl marks disappear, restoring a smooth surface and a glossy, like-new appearance.
- ANTI-YELLOWING CLARITY – Engineered with UV-resistant polyurethane to prevent yellowing and maintain crystal-clear transparency. The 8-mil thick film is virtually invisible, durable, and flexible for perfect coverage.
The graffiti included the uncensored phrase “Fuck Elon.” Some news reports sanitized the wording as “F*** You Elon,” “F— Elon,” or similar variations. The exact phrasing is therefore not completely consistent across published accounts, but the message was plainly directed at Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Timeline of the vandalism

| Shortly after 4 a.m., Friday, June 21 | A passerby, identified in viral-video and local reporting as Yasser Rabello, noticed the graffiti while walking his dog and recorded video of the rows of affected vehicles. |
| About 8:38–8:40 a.m. | Fort Lauderdale Police Department officers responded to the lot regarding the vandalism. |
| Later that day | The visible spray paint was wiped or scrubbed from the vehicles. Police continued seeking information about the person or people responsible. |

How police responded
Fort Lauderdale police arrived shortly before 8:40 a.m. Friday, according to local television reporting, and opened an investigation. Crime Stoppers information published in connection with the case said an anonymous tip could potentially qualify for a reward of up to $5,000.
The reporting reviewed for this article did not establish that police identified or arrested anyone. It also did not provide a verified suspect statement, charging decision, or official finding about why the vehicles were targeted. Because of that, it would be inaccurate to describe the incident as a confirmed politically motivated or organized attack.
The wording strongly suggests hostility toward Musk, but that is an interpretation of the message—not a confirmed motive. The person who applied the paint, whether acting alone or with others, remained unidentified in the available accounts.

Were the Cybertrucks permanently damaged?
The graffiti was reportedly removed relatively quickly, apparently helped by the trucks’ smooth stainless-steel exterior. Road & Track and other coverage said the paint could be wiped or scrubbed away. Some reports mentioned remaining marks or cleanup effects, so the most accurate conclusion is narrower: the visible graffiti was removed, and no major permanent damage was confirmed in the reporting reviewed.
That does not mean every truck was necessarily restored to its original condition immediately, nor does it establish that cleanup was cost-free. It means that published reports did not verify widespread permanent damage to the vehicles.
Some coverage estimated the combined value of the 34 Cybertrucks at roughly $1.9 million to $2.72 million. Those figures depend on assumed vehicle prices and should not be confused with a confirmed repair bill or verified property-loss figure. The firmly reported count is 34 affected vehicles.
What the viral video shows—and what it does not prove
The incident became widely known after video circulated through Florida-based social-media accounts including Only in Dade and Only in Broward. Storyful identified Rabello as the person who recorded footage after seeing the marked vehicles.

The video provides useful visual context: it shows multiple rows of Cybertrucks carrying similar graffiti and helps establish the scale of the incident. But a social-media clip cannot, by itself, establish:
- who applied the paint;
- the exact time the vandalism occurred;
- whether one person or multiple people were involved;
- the complete chain of custody of the vehicles; or
- that the footage captures every affected truck or every mark.
Likewise, reports that Cybertrucks have built-in cameras should not be mistaken for evidence that the vandalism was recorded. The lot was reportedly without visible security cameras, and no published footage reviewed for this report proved that a Cybertruck camera captured the act.
Why the stainless-steel body matters to the cleanup
Tesla markets the Cybertruck as an electric utility truck with stainless-steel exterior body panels. That unusual surface was part of the visual story: the graffiti stood out clearly across the angular silver vehicles, but contemporaneous reports also suggested that the paint could be removed more readily than some marks on conventional painted bodywork.
That observation should not be treated as a universal cleaning recommendation. Paint type, dwell time, surface contamination, cleaning chemicals, abrasion, and the condition of the stainless steel can all affect the result. Anyone cleaning a Cybertruck or another stainless-steel vehicle should follow the manufacturer’s care guidance and test any product in an inconspicuous area first. Abrasive tools or unsuitable solvents could create a different, permanent surface problem.

What remains unknown
The central facts are clear: 34 Cybertrucks were vandalized at a Tesla-leased lot in Fort Lauderdale, the message targeted Musk, police responded Friday morning, and the visible graffiti was later cleaned off. Several important details remain unresolved:
- The perpetrator: No suspect was identified in the reviewed reporting.
- The motive: The message indicates animosity toward Musk, but no official motive was established.
- Whether there was more than one person: The available accounts do not settle that question.
- The full cost of the incident: Vehicle-value estimates are not confirmed repair or damage totals.
- The final investigative outcome: The reviewed sources did not locate a later authoritative report confirming an arrest or charge.
That last point is a limitation of the available reporting, not proof that no later investigative action occurred. The incident itself is historical and took place on June 21, 2024; any newer case development would need to be confirmed through Fort Lauderdale police, court records, or a later authoritative report.
Bottom line
Thirty-four new Cybertrucks were spray-painted with profanity aimed at Elon Musk at a lightly secured Tesla-leased lot in Fort Lauderdale. The vandalism was discovered shortly after 4 a.m. on June 21, 2024, police responded around 8:40 a.m., and the visible paint was later removed. The available reporting does not confirm who did it, why beyond the apparent anti-Musk message, whether the act was coordinated, or that the trucks sustained major permanent damage.
