Subaru unveiled the Getaway as a 2027 model in April 2026, but its current U.S. consumer page identifies it as the 2028 Subaru Getaway. It is a three-row, all-electric midsize SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a manufacturer-announced 420 horsepower. Subaru has not yet published final U.S. pricing or EPA-certified range.
What is the Subaru Getaway?
The Getaway is a three-row midsize battery-electric SUV developed jointly by Subaru and Toyota. Subaru Corporation describes it as the largest body in Subaru’s global battery-electric lineup; Subaru of America characterizes it as “the most powerful production Subaru,” citing its announced 420-hp output. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent rankings or test results. How much horsepower does the Subaru Getaway have?
Subaru announced 420 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. The company also said the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds. These are manufacturer-published figures; Subaru described horsepower as a development estimate, and they are not independent test measurements. How many miles of range does the Subaru Getaway get?
The reveal-era specification lists two battery capacities, but Subaru has not published an EPA-certified range figure. Its April 2026 corporate announcement estimated more than 300 miles for the larger, 95.8-kWh battery. Treat that as a manufacturer estimate, not a certified rating or a promise of real-world range.

How does charging work?
The Getaway uses a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. Subaru of America said it would provide access to more than 25,000 Superchargers in North America. That access figure describes the network cited by Subaru, not a guarantee that every station is available or suitable at every moment.

Subaru Corporation estimated a 10%–80% charge in approximately 30 minutes using a 150-kW charger. The estimate was made during development at −10°C; charging time can vary with temperature, charger output, battery condition and other conditions. It should not be read as a universal charging time. How many seats does the Subaru Getaway have?
The Getaway seats up to seven, and Subaru has also described six-seat configurations with second-row captain’s chairs. Subaru’s U.S. release lists 15.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row upright and 45.6 cubic feet with it folded. Its current consumer page separately lists a maximum of 80.6 cubic feet; Subaru’s page does not establish the seating configuration associated with that maximum, so it should not be combined with a particular seat layout.

What are its other announced specifications?
- Ground clearance: 8.3 inches, according to Subaru of America.
- Towing capacity: Up to 3,500 pounds, according to Subaru of America.
- Displays: A 14-inch multimedia display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, according to the U.S. release.

When does the Subaru Getaway come out?
Subaru’s original reveal announcement planned a U.S. release for late 2026. The current Subaru U.S. homepage search result says the 2028 Getaway is coming in spring 2027. Because the model-year designation and timing differ between the dated reveal material and current consumer-facing information, shoppers should use Subaru’s current page or contact a retailer for the latest availability. Subaru’s current U.S. page lists MSRP as unavailable. The company has not published a final U.S. price or trim-by-trim price sheet, so no confirmed purchase price can yet be given.
