Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, a four-door electric grand tourer and the first production Jaguar built on its dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture. The company claims up to 1,030 PS, a 0–62 mph time of 3.2 seconds and an anticipated EPA range of up to 400 miles. Orders are expected to open in early 2027, with a UK starting price of £130,000 and first deliveries expected in the second half of that year.
What is the Jaguar Type 01?
The Type 01 is Jaguar’s production-facing electric grand tourer, not the earlier Type 00 concept. Jaguar says it is the first production model on its dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The company describes it as a four-door GT with a tri-motor powertrain and Intelligent Torque Vectoring. Jaguar’s launch announcement sets out the revealed vehicle and its headline specifications.
Jaguar says “Type” refers to the brand’s heritage of named vehicles, “0” represents zero tailpipe emissions and “1” marks the first car of a new era. The claim that the production car looks “wilder” than the Type 00 is subjective; Jaguar’s published material describes the design but does not establish an objective comparison. The company’s explanation of the name was published ahead of the reveal.
How much horsepower does the Jaguar Type 01 have?
Jaguar quotes maximum output of up to 1,030 PS and torque of 1,365 Nm. PS is the unit used in the company’s reveal; 1,030 PS is approximately 1,015 mechanical horsepower. Jaguar claims 0–62 mph (0–100 km/h) in 3.2 seconds and 62–112 mph (100–180 km/h) in 4.0 seconds. These are manufacturer figures, not independently instrumented test results. Jaguar’s announcement lists the output and acceleration claims.

What is the Jaguar Type 01’s range?
Jaguar advertises an anticipated range of up to 400 miles under the EPA test cycle and up to 450 miles WLTP. JLR says the estimates are subject to homologation and can vary with conditions and vehicle configuration. For a separate highway reference, JLR estimates up to 320 miles at a constant 75 mph; this is also a company estimate, not an independent road test. The car has a manufacturer-stated 118 kWh usable battery and an 850-volt electrical architecture. Jaguar’s technical release and JLR’s announcement give the figures and qualifications.
How fast does the Jaguar Type 01 charge?
Jaguar says a 350 kW rapid DC charger can add up to 200 miles in as little as 13 minutes. It also lists a 10–80% charging time of as little as 22 minutes. Both are manufacturer claims under charging conditions that may not be available at every charger or in every session; the quoted peak charger power alone does not guarantee those results. What are the Type 01’s design and cabin details?
Jaguar presents the car as a low-roof GT with a long bonnet and sleek silhouette. Its current vehicle page lists 23-inch wheels, standard all-season or optional summer tyres, and a distinctive 21-inch all-season wheel. Those page descriptions are not a guarantee that every detail will carry over unchanged to customer cars.
Inside, a central spine runs through the cabin, which is arranged as individual spaces for four occupants. A single-glass 24-inch OLED display combines instrumentation and infotainment. Jaguar says the displayed vehicle shows the car as it enters production and warns that final customer models and features may vary before launch. When can I order the Jaguar Type 01, and how much will it cost?
JLR expects orders to open in early 2027 and first customer deliveries in the second half of 2027. The announced starting price is £130,000 GBP. That is a UK price announcement; the cited material does not state a US price. Both the timing and price are prospective, and final market pricing may differ. JLR’s launch announcement gives the order window and starting price. Jaguar’s premiere announcement also sets out the expected delivery schedule.

The reveal establishes Jaguar’s announced format, platform and headline technical claims, but not independently verified performance or final customer-car specifications. In particular, the range figures remain estimates subject to homologation, and Jaguar says production features may change before launch. There is no sourced basis here for ranking the Type 01 against rival electric GTs or claiming that its styling is objectively more dramatic than the Type 00 concept.
