The 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid is a three-row midsize SUV offered in LE, XLE, new Woodland Edition and Limited grades, with a separate, more powerful Hybrid MAX Platinum. Toyota lists the Hybrid LE from $45,910 before Dealer Processing and Handling, and estimates up to 36 combined MPG for the XLE with front-wheel drive. These are U.S.-market figures from Toyota’s October 1, 2026 announcement, not independent test results. The Grand Highlander is distinct from the standard 2027 Toyota Highlander, a separate vehicle line.
What’s new for the 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid?
The key addition is the Hybrid Woodland Edition, which pairs the regular 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain with standard all-wheel drive and equipment intended for rougher roads and outdoor use. Toyota also says the Hybrid Nightshade and Hybrid MAX Limited grades are not available for 2027. The regular Hybrid lineup is LE, XLE, Woodland Edition and Limited; Hybrid MAX is offered only as Platinum. How much does the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid cost?
Toyota lists a starting MSRP of $45,910 for the Hybrid LE, excluding Dealer Processing and Handling. The announcement does not establish prices for the other Hybrid grades. Final transaction prices and dealer stock vary; Toyota expected 2027 models to reach dealerships later in 2026, so check with local dealers for current availability and pricing.
What is the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid MPG?
Toyota estimates fuel economy by grade and drivetrain. Its figures are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured results:

Toyota’s announcement does not give a separate MPG figure for the Hybrid LE with FWD. The 36-MPG figure applies specifically to the XLE FWD; do not assume it applies to every Hybrid grade or drivetrain.
Does the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid come in AWD?
Yes. Toyota lists AWD for the Hybrid LE and XLE, and the Woodland Edition is AWD. The announcement lists the Hybrid Limited as AWD. FWD is available on the LE and XLE. That choice affects more than traction: Toyota’s stated combined estimate is 36 MPG for the XLE FWD versus 34 MPG for the XLE AWD.

What is the difference between Grand Highlander Hybrid and Hybrid MAX?
The regular Hybrid and Hybrid MAX are distinct powertrains, rather than two output settings for the same system. The regular Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter engine and produces 245 total system horsepower. Toyota offers it in LE, XLE, Woodland Edition and Limited grades. Hybrid MAX produces 362 total system horsepower and is limited to the Platinum grade for 2027. Toyota estimates 27 combined MPG for Hybrid MAX and lists 5,000 pounds of towing capacity; the regular Hybrid grades are rated for 3,500 pounds of towing. Toyota also lists a 5,000-pound capacity for gas models.
In practical terms, the regular Hybrid emphasizes fuel economy, while Hybrid MAX is the higher-output option with greater stated towing capacity. The figures are Toyota’s published specifications and estimates; they are not independent test findings.

What does the Hybrid Woodland Edition add?
The new Woodland Edition is the regular 2.5-liter Hybrid with AWD and a collection of exterior, cabin and cargo features. Toyota specifies matte-black 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires and 0.5 inch of additional ground clearance, achieved with the tires and taller springs. Other listed equipment includes:
- A removable branded second-row console that doubles as a cooler; Toyota says it holds up to six 12-ounce cans.
- All-weather floor mats and a cargo tray with pop-up dividers.
- A 120V/1500W power outlet for second-row occupants.
- Heated steering wheel, LED fog lamps and enhanced lighting.
- Tow hitch, mud guards and black exterior accents.
These details are specific to the Woodland equipment described by Toyota; the announcement does not establish that the same items are standard on other Hybrid grades.

How much room does the Grand Highlander Hybrid have?
Toyota publishes seating for up to eight, 33.5 inches of third-row legroom and 37.2 inches of third-row headroom. Maximum cargo capacity is listed as 97.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. These are Toyota’s published dimensions and capacity figures, not measurements independently verified here.
What technology and safety features are included?
Toyota says all 2027 Grand Highlander models include Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Toyota Audio Multimedia. The announcement also describes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and seven USB-C ports. Some equipment and connected-service features vary by grade or have trial conditions. Toyota lists five-year trials for Safety Connect, Service Connect and Remote Connect, plus a 30-day/3-GB Wi-Fi Connect trial; service terms and eligibility can apply, so confirm details for the specific vehicle.
