The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD diesel is reported to cost $2,500 to $3,000 more in combined base MSRP and diesel-option increases than its 2026 counterpart, depending on trim. The top increase applies to the High Country. The new 8.3L Duramax option is reported at $11,400; the exact increase over 2026’s diesel option is disputed because two reports give different prior-year prices.
How much more does the 2027 Silverado HD diesel cost?
Pickup Truck Talk reported on October 6, 2026, that Chevrolet spokesman Chad Lyons provided pricing by email. Its trim-by-trim figures show the following increases for the Silverado 2500HD. The combined figure adds each trim’s reported base MSRP increase to the reported $1,500 increase in the diesel option.

These are reported MSRP changes, not a forecast of a buyer’s final price. Pickup Truck Talk says the base figures exclude the $2,795 destination freight charge; the combined calculation also excludes other equipment, taxes, and dealer charges. The report’s trim comparisons cover the 2500HD, so they should not be assumed to apply to every 3500HD configuration. Chevrolet’s 2027 product page said MSRP would be posted later in 2026 when accessed October 7, 2026. Check Chevrolet or a dealer for current pricing and the exact configuration.
What is the 2027 Duramax option price?
The new 8.3L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 is reported to cost $11,400 as an option. Pickup Truck Talk says that is $1,500 more than the 2026 diesel option, listed in its report at $9,900. GM Authority also reports the $11,400 2027 price, but gives the 2026 option price as $9,990, which would make the difference $1,410. The 2027 option price is consistent across those reports; the precise year-over-year engine-option increase is not.

GM Authority also notes a separate $300 increase to the 2026 lineup that it excluded from its year-over-year comparisons. Since sources use different comparison bases, do not combine their figures as though they were calculated the same way.
What’s new about the 8.3L Duramax?
General Motors announced the all-new 8.3L Duramax for the 2027 Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD on September 24, 2026. Chevrolet rates the available diesel at 555 horsepower and 1,230 lb-ft of torque, and lists up to 38,000 pounds of maximum available towing. Those are manufacturer-stated maximums, not ratings guaranteed for every trim or configuration.

The gasoline alternative is an enhanced 6.6L V8 rated by Chevrolet at 412 hp and 472 lb-ft for 2027. For comparison, Chevrolet’s 2026 page lists the outgoing 6.6L Duramax at 470 hp and 975 lb-ft. These figures describe different engines and model years; configuration-specific towing and payload ratings should be checked for the truck being considered.
