2027 Porsche Cayenne S Electric: 657 HP for Less Than a 911 Carrera

Porsche’s 2027 Cayenne S Electric starts below the 911 Carrera on either listed U.S. price, but the company’s pages differ by $2,350—and 657 hp requires Launch Control.

Yes—by Porsche’s current U.S. starting prices, the Cayenne S Electric costs less than a 911 Carrera, although Porsche’s own pages disagree on the SUV’s price. The headline 657 hp is also a Launch Control peak: Porsche lists 536 hp in normal operation. Its current U.S. product pages identify it as a 2027 model, despite its debut under a 2026 launch label.

What the Cayenne S Electric delivers

Porsche announced the all-electric Cayenne S on March 10, 2026, as the middle model between the base Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric. The current U.S. configurator and comparison page label it a 2027 model. Porsche’s launch announcement lists 536 hp in normal operation and up to 657 hp with Launch Control.

The S has permanent-magnet synchronous motors on both axles and all-wheel drive. Porsche says the rear motor uses direct oil cooling to dissipate heat from current-carrying components. The manufacturer quotes 3.6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph with Launch Control and a top track speed of up to 155 mph. Those are Porsche figures, not independent test results.

How its starting price compares with a 911 Carrera

Porsche’s current U.S. pages show two different starting prices for the 2027 Cayenne S Electric. The configurator lists $126,300, while Porsche’s comparison page lists $128,650. The sources do not explain the $2,350 difference.

Vehicle and source Listed starting price Difference versus Cayenne configurator price
2027 Cayenne S Electric, Porsche U.S. configurator $126,300 —
2027 Cayenne S Electric, Porsche U.S. comparison page $128,650 $2,350 more than the configurator price
2027 911 Carrera, Porsche U.S. model page $135,500 $9,200 more than the configurator price

Against the Carrera, the Cayenne is $9,200 less using the configurator price, or $6,850 less using Porsche’s comparison-page price. These are comparisons of listed starting MSRPs, not out-the-door totals. Porsche says its displayed MSRPs exclude options, taxes, title, registration, delivery and handling, dealer charges, and potential tariffs. See the 911 Carrera U.S. model page, Cayenne configurator, and Cayenne comparison page.

For context, Porsche lists the 911 Carrera at 388 hp and 3.9 seconds to 60 mph. The Cayenne is an all-wheel-drive SUV with a Launch Control peak of 657 hp and a manufacturer-quoted 3.6-second time. Those figures describe different vehicle types and are not a controlled performance comparison.

Battery and charging claims

Porsche gives the Cayenne S Electric a 113 kWh gross battery capacity and says it can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 16 minutes at up to 400 kW. That is a best-case manufacturer claim dependent on a suitable high-power station and ideal conditions; it is not a guaranteed time at every charger, temperature, or battery state.

For home charging, Porsche identifies a traditional J1772 AC port for Level 2 use. A compatible J1772 Level 2 charging station is therefore a relevant home-charging option; confirm the charger connector and the home electrical installation meet the vehicle’s requirements. This AC setup is separate from DC fast charging. Porsche’s Cayenne Coupe Electric release says the Coupe shares charging capabilities with its SUV counterpart, has a NACS port as well as J1772 AC, and includes a CCS adapter as standard.

Equipment and market-specific availability

Porsche lists Porsche Active Ride suspension, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Sport Chrono Package, and Push-to-Pass among the S’s optional or model-specific equipment. Check the actual vehicle configuration and market listing rather than assuming any of these features is standard.

The S debuted with Volcano Grey Metallic details at the front and rear. A later Porsche newsroom article says new Cayenne Electric model-year options include powered doors and Porsche Wireless Charging. Porsche describes wireless charging as vehicle preparation plus a vehicle pad and installed ground pad, with claimed transfer up to 11 kW at about 90% efficiency. It said components could be ordered in Germany and other European markets, with rollout elsewhere staged; that does not establish current U.S. availability. Details appear in Porsche’s wireless-charging announcement.
