Those examples document individual offers, not a national pattern or a representative survey.
What Kia says the 2027 EV3 costs
Kia America lists the 2027 EV3 starting at $29,890 MSRP. That figure excludes destination and handling, taxes, title, license, options and dealer charges, and Kia says the actual dealer price may vary. Kia’s 2027 EV3 page
MSRP is therefore a starting reference, not the out-the-door price. The latter depends on the exact vehicle, dealer charges, taxes and any applicable incentives.
What the reported dealer listings showed
Carscoops reported several individual listings on October 5, 2026. They covered different EV3 trims and locations, so their totals are not directly comparable. The examples are not a representative sample, and they do not establish how common markups are among U.S. Kia dealers. Carscoops’ October 5 report

Glendale, California: a GT listing with a market adjustment
In the report’s example, a Glendale dealer listed a 2027 EV3 GT at $47,385, including a $4,995 market adjustment. The listing also showed $1,995 for LoJack, $499 for wheel locks and $149 for a roadside kit. After an $85 document fee and a $37 filing fee, Carscoops calculated a reported total of $55,145—$7,760 above that vehicle’s stated MSRP. This is the price calculation for the specific reported listing, not a current quote.
Other listings: add-ons and discounts
The same report described $997 in dealer-installed options on a North Carolina GT-Line and a $995 “value package” on a Florida GT-Line. It also reported discounts on two EV3 Wind listings: one in Maryland with a $1,834 dealer discount and $1,500 in Kia cash, for a reported price of $33,351 before an $800 processing fee; and one in Florida with a $2,098 discount.

These examples illustrate why a headline price alone can mislead: the final amount can include dealer-installed items, a market adjustment, a discount or an incentive with its own eligibility conditions. The reported vehicles differ by trim and equipment, so compare like with like rather than treating their prices as a single scale.
What federal pricing guidance says
The Federal Trade Commission’s September 2026 pricing FAQ says advertised vehicle prices must include fees dealers require consumers to pay, while excluding charges the government requires consumers to pay directly. In the FTC’s September 2026 press release, Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Christopher Mufarrige said: “The FTC Act requires truthful and accurate pricing, which brings significant benefits for consumers,” FTC press release That statement describes the FTC’s pricing principles; it is not a ruling on the specific Kia listings described above.
How to get a meaningful EV3 price before visiting

- Identify the exact vehicle. Compare the same trim, drivetrain and equipment, not just vehicles called “EV3.”
- Request an itemized written quote. Ask the dealer to list the vehicle price, any market adjustment, dealer-required fees, dealer-installed items, taxes and other charges in the out-the-door total.
- Separate discounts from incentives. Ask for the dealer discount and Kia cash as separate lines, and request the eligibility conditions for each incentive.
- Ask whether add-ons are optional. Confirm which packages or accessories you can decline. Check that the final paperwork includes only items you agreed to buy.
- Compare total prices, not monthly payments. A payment can change with loan length, down payment and financing terms; it does not reveal whether two dealers are charging the same amount for the vehicle.
What the listings do—and do not—show
The reported examples show that a particular EV3 offer can land well above its vehicle’s stated MSRP once a market adjustment and add-ons are included, while other reported listings included discounts. They do not show the national rate of EV3 markups, how often dealers charge them, or whether a particular dealer’s offer is typical. The practical way to judge an offer is to compare written out-the-door prices for equivalent vehicles and check each fee, add-on and incentive line.
