BMW’s 2027 range will be a transition year rather than a single wave of brand-new nameplates. The company says more than 40 new or updated BMW models and derivatives will reach the market by the end of 2027, but that total includes facelifts, powertrain versions, and technology updates—not 40 entirely new vehicles.
The clearest confirmed arrivals are the electric iX3, the new i3 sedan, the redesigned 7 Series, and the fifth-generation X5. BMW has also confirmed that fully electric M models will begin arriving from 2027. Several other BMWs already appear with 2027 model-year labels in the U.S., although those listings do not necessarily indicate a new generation.

BMW’s timing often creates an important distinction: a vehicle can be a 2027 model-year product even when production or customer deliveries begin during calendar year 2026.
2027 BMW iX3
The 2027 BMW iX3 50 xDrive will be the first series-production vehicle built on BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture. It is an electric SUV with dual-motor all-wheel drive and a U.S. base price of $61,500, before the $1,350 destination charge.

The iX3 also introduces BMW’s Panoramic iDrive, BMW Operating System X, and the Heart of Joy control computer. Those systems are part of the Neue Klasse rollout and will spread to additional BMW models.
BMW has said that a rear-wheel-drive iX3 and other variants will follow. However, the company has not published a complete U.S. 2027 iX3 lineup or pricing structure, so those versions should not be treated as fully detailed arrivals yet.
2027 BMW i3 sedan
The new i3 is not a return of the discontinued i3 hatchback. This vehicle is a four-door electric sedan positioned in the 3 Series segment, and BMW describes it as the second Neue Klasse model.

The range figure needs careful interpretation. BMW’s approximately 559-mile equivalent is a provisional WLTP estimate, not a U.S. EPA rating. Final WLTP figures were not available in BMW’s technical material, and BMW had not released U.S. pricing, EPA range, or a full American trim walk at the time of the announcement.
2027 BMW 7 Series and i7
The seventh-generation 7 Series is confirmed for 2027 with a mixed powertrain strategy. Buyers will be able to choose between gasoline, plug-in-hybrid, and fully electric versions rather than being pushed into one drivetrain.
The initial U.S. range consists of:

- 740
- 740 xDrive
BMW says the 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid will follow in the first quarter of 2027. It has also announced a future V8-powered M Performance version, but has not supplied the final name, output, price, or precise launch timing.

Production begins in July 2026 at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. The new 7 Series brings Neue Klasse technology into BMW’s flagship sedan, including:
- BMW Panoramic iDrive
- Panoramic Vision

In other words, the Neue Klasse influence is not limited to BMW’s upcoming EVs. The 7 Series demonstrates how the company intends to apply the new electronics, software, and cabin technology to combustion and plug-in-hybrid vehicles as well.
2027 BMW X5 and iX5
BMW’s fifth-generation X5 is one of the most significant 2027 arrivals because its platform is designed to accommodate several different powertrains. Production starts in August 2026 at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina, plant.
The first X5 versions are scheduled to launch in late November 2026. The battery-electric and plug-in-hybrid models follow in early 2027. BMW says the global X5 family is engineered to support:

- 48-volt mild-hybrid combustion powertrains

BMW iX5 60 xDrive
The first electric X5 is the iX5 60 xDrive. BMW quotes up to 525 miles of range on the WLTP test cycle, along with an 800-volt electrical system and DC charging of up to 460 kW.
That 525-mile figure is not a U.S. EPA estimate. BMW had not published an EPA range figure in the cited announcement, and WLTP results are generally more optimistic than EPA results. U.S. buyers should wait for the official EPA number before comparing the iX5 directly with American-market rivals.
What about the iX5 Hydrogen?
BMW is developing an iX5 Hydrogen, but it should not be listed as a confirmed 2027 U.S. production model. The company describes hydrogen as part of a funded development program and places the model’s introduction later. At this point, it is a future technology program—not a regular 2027 showroom vehicle.

2027 BMW M models
BMW M has confirmed that fully electric M models will begin arriving from 2027. These cars will use Neue Klasse technology and a new high-performance control architecture intended to give BMW M more precise control over electric propulsion, chassis systems, and vehicle behavior.

The defensible conclusion is that a fully electric Neue Klasse BMW M model is coming from 2027. Calling it a production electric M3 with a specific horsepower figure goes beyond what BMW has officially released.
The next-generation 3 Series
BMW’s 2025 annual report says the eighth-generation 3 Series will bring Neue Klasse technologies into the company’s core sedan range. The electric model is officially named the i3, rather than simply being described as an electric 3 Series.
BMW has not yet provided a definitive U.S. on-sale date or a complete lineup for the gasoline and hybrid versions of the next-generation 3 Series. The i3 sedan is therefore the clearly documented electric member of this program, while the conventional 3 Series derivatives remain less specific in BMW’s public 2027 launch information.
BMW models already carrying 2027 labels in the U.S.
BMW’s U.S. website already shows several vehicles with 2027 model-year labels. These include the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 4 Series Coupe, 4 Series Gran Coupe, 4 Series Convertible, M4 Coupe, M4 Convertible, and X7 variants.
A 2027 listing does not automatically mean a new generation. It may indicate a carryover model, a running equipment change, a revised powertrain, or the final production year for an existing vehicle. These cars belong in a 2027 buying guide, but they should not be confused with the confirmed all-new iX3, i3, 7 Series, and X5 programs.

Several rumored BMW products appear regularly in future-model coverage but lack equivalent confirmation as specific 2027 production vehicles. They include:

- A Neue Klasse iX1

- A revived 6 Series

- Exact output figures for the rumored electric M3

BMW’s statement covers more than 40 new or updated models and derivatives by the end of 2027. It does not say that 40 new nameplates will launch in 2027 alone. Nor has BMW published a consumer-facing master list that identifies every vehicle in that number.

How to read BMW’s 2027 announcements
- Separate model year from calendar year. The iX3 is a 2027 model, but U.S. deliveries begin in late September 2026.
- Check the testing standard. WLTP figures from Europe are not EPA figures for the United States.
- Distinguish a platform announcement from a finished model. Neue Klasse confirms a technology direction, not necessarily a specific iX1, iX4, or iX7.
- Look for a BMW price and order information. A concept, prototype, or internal code is not the same as a confirmed retail vehicle.
- Treat “more than 40” as a portfolio figure. It includes updated models and derivatives across several years.
