What is the 2027 BMW iX3?
The iX3 50 xDrive is BMW’s electric SUV—marketed by the company as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV)—and the first series-production vehicle in its Neue Klasse generation. BMW presented the production model on September 5, 2025, ahead of its announced North American premiere in New York on September 21, 2025. The 2027 model is the iX3 50 xDrive. BMW announced a U.S. launch date of September 25, 2026, with deliveries set to begin in late September. Those are the company’s announced timings; dealer availability can vary. The U.S. price and range figures below come from BMW’s May 7, 2026 announcement.
How far can the 2027 BMW iX3 go on a charge?
BMW’s May 2026 announcement lists a maximum U.S. EPA-estimated range of 434 miles, but that figure applies to the no-cost 20-inch summer-tire option, not the standard tire setup. BMW lists 383 miles for the standard 20-inch all-season tires. Its published figures vary by wheel and tire configuration:

These are the EPA range and combined-efficiency figures BMW published for the U.S. market; they are not independent road-test results. The 400-mile language in BMW’s September 2025 debut announcement was explicitly preliminary. It remains a useful broad description, but the later announcement gives a higher maximum for one configuration and a lower rating for the standard all-season setup. How do U.S. and European range figures compare?
BMW’s global and German materials describe the iX3 using the WLTP test cycle, not the U.S. EPA cycle. The global debut release gives a usable high-voltage battery energy content of 108.7 kWh and a range of up to 805 km (500 miles) under WLTP. BMW Germany lists a provisional WLTP range of 679–805 km and output of 345 kW (469 PS) for the 50 xDrive. These figures apply to the European/global specifications and must not be read as U.S. EPA ratings.

For the U.S. version, use the EPA figures by wheel and tire package in the table above. WLTP and EPA results come from different test cycles, so comparing their numbers directly does not establish how far a particular driver will travel in everyday conditions. BMW’s global debut release and German debut release provide the WLTP-market specifications.
What does the 2027 BMW iX3 cost in the U.S.?
BMW announced a U.S. base MSRP of $61,500 for the 2027 iX3 50 xDrive, plus $1,350 for destination and handling. The announcement is dated May 7, 2026; dealer inventory, options and transaction prices can differ from the published base price. How quickly can the iX3 charge?
BMW says the U.S. iX3 has an 800-volt electrical architecture, a standard NACS charging port and DC fast-charging capability of up to 400 kW. At an 800-volt charging station, BMW estimates that the vehicle can add 185 miles of range in 10 minutes or charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes. Those are manufacturer estimates under suitable charging conditions, not guaranteed times at every charger or in every temperature. Actual charging depends on the station and conditions.

Sixth-generation BMW eDrive
The iX3 introduces BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology for Neue Klasse, combining new electric motors with a redesigned high-voltage battery using cylindrical cells. BMW’s 2025 U.S. debut material compared Gen6 with Gen5 and claimed 40% lower energy losses, 10% lower weight and 20% lower manufacturing costs. Those percentages are BMW’s comparative claims, not independently verified test results.

Heart of Joy and four “superbrains”
BMW calls its drivetrain and driving-dynamics management technology “Heart of Joy.” The company also describes a new electronic and software architecture built around four high-performance computers it calls “superbrains.” These are the names BMW gives the systems; the announcement does not constitute an independent assessment of how they perform in everyday driving.
Panoramic iDrive
The cabin introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive, combining a central display with a panoramic projection concept. The U.S. debut release describes the interface, but the cited announcements do not establish a real-world usability comparison with other vehicles.

What do the launch and production dates mean?
BMW unveiled the production iX3 on September 5, 2025, at the IAA Mobility event in Munich and announced a North American premiere in New York for September 21, 2025. The global debut release said production at BMW Group Plant Debrecen would begin in autumn 2025; the U.S. debut material described U.S. production at the plant as planned to begin in Q1 2026.
