On manufacturer-listed base MSRP, the 2026 Subaru WRX costs $1,000 more than the Honda Civic Si: $32,495 versus $31,495, before destination. The WRX is rated at 271 hp and the Si at 200 hp—a 71-hp difference, often rounded to 70. That is a striking power gap for a relatively small difference in starting price, but it is not the whole buying decision: the WRX has standard all-wheel drive, while the Si’s published fuel-economy figures are better.
How much more does the WRX cost?
Subaru lists the 2026 WRX Base at $32,495 MSRP. Honda lists the 2026 Civic Si at $31,495 MSRP. The difference is $1,000 before destination, options, taxes, registration and any dealer pricing or incentives. Both manufacturers list a $1,195 destination charge, so adding that charge to each keeps the MSRP gap at $1,000: $33,690 for the WRX Base and $32,690 for the Si. These are not guaranteed out-the-door prices.
Subaru’s January 20, 2026 pricing release specifies the WRX starting MSRP and destination charge. Honda’s January 6, 2026 pricing release lists the Si’s MSRP and its price including destination. Local dealer quotes are needed to establish what either car would actually cost you.
How much more power does the WRX have?
Subaru rates the WRX’s 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder at 271 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Honda rates the Civic Si’s 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder at 200 hp and 192 lb-ft. Subtracting the published horsepower ratings gives the WRX a 71-hp advantage; the torque difference is 66 lb-ft. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from a head-to-head test.

That makes the choice about more than horsepower. If standard AWD is a priority, the WRX is the one that supplies it. If you want the Si’s manual-only configuration, Honda’s published specifications make that choice straightforward. The cited specifications do not compare either car’s performance in particular weather or road conditions.
Which one has better fuel economy?
The Civic Si has the stronger published fuel-economy figures. Honda lists 27 mpg city, 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined. Subaru lists the WRX Base at 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway; Subaru’s cited WRX figures do not state a combined rating.

The WRX asks $1,000 more at base MSRP for 71 more rated horsepower and standard AWD. The Civic Si starts lower and has better published fuel economy. Neither advantage settles the question for every buyer: the right fit depends on whether you value power and AWD more than the Si’s lower starting MSRP and efficiency figures.
