The ES 350h pairs a gasoline engine with electric motors; the ES 350e is a front-wheel-drive EV, and the ES 500e adds dual-motor all-wheel drive. Their published efficiency and range figures are estimates, so the right comparison depends on whether you want gasoline flexibility, an all-electric drivetrain, or more power and AWD.
What powertrains are available?
Lexus introduced the eighth-generation ES globally in Shanghai in April 2025, then announced U.S. versions of the battery-electric models in March 2026 and the hybrid in May 2026. The figures below are for the U.S. lineup described in those announcements, not necessarily every market’s configuration. Lexus describes the redesigned car as an evolution of the prior generation’s TNGA-K platform adapted for hybrid and all-electric powertrains.

Powertrain and hybrid figures are from Lexus USA’s May 2026 ES 350h announcement; EV output and range are from its March 2026 ES 350e and ES 500e announcement. The ES 350h’s available AWD is a first for the ES hybrid, according to Lexus. The company reports the same 244-hp combined output for both drive layouts.
How do the electric models differ?
ES 350e: single-motor front-wheel drive
The 350e is the lower-output EV, with 221 hp and FWD. Lexus reports an EPA-estimated range of 307 miles on the standard 19-inch wheels, falling to 292 miles with available 21-inch wheels.

ES 500e: dual-motor all-wheel drive
The 500e uses two motors for AWD and makes 338 hp. Lexus lists EPA-estimated range of 276 miles with 19-inch wheels or 272 miles with 21-inch wheels.
Both EVs have a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. The figures are EPA estimates published by Lexus, not guarantees of the distance a particular driver will achieve. Weather, speed, terrain, driving style, and vehicle configuration can affect real-world range; the launch announcements do not establish independent road-test results.

What are charging and connector details?
The U.S.-market ES 350e and ES 500e use a NACS charge port and have an onboard 11-kW AC charger. Lexus says both Level 2 AC charging and Level 3/DC fast charging are supported. Its stated charging times assume ideal conditions:
- Level 2: about seven hours, according to Lexus.
- Level 3/DC fast charging: about 28 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, at charging speeds up to 150 kW, according to Lexus.
Actual charging time depends on the charger, battery and environmental conditions, among other factors. Lexus says a dual-voltage AC charging cable and a CCS-to-NACS plug adapter are standard equipment, so the announced cars include a cable and adapter. A buyer may still choose a compatible home Level 2 charging station; the included cable does not itself establish that a suitable powered charging outlet or station is installed at home.

What equipment do the models share?
Lexus lists a 14.0-inch Lexus Interface touchscreen, a 12.3-inch driver Multi-Information Display, and Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 across the 2026 ES in its U.S. launch materials. The BEV announcement also describes an optional Executive package for the ES 350e Luxury trim. It adds power-adjustable rear seating with heating, ventilation and massage, plus a passenger-side ottoman. Confirm current trim and package availability with Lexus or a dealer before relying on that equipment in a purchase decision.
When were the U.S. models expected, and what prices did Lexus announce?
Lexus’s March 2026 announcement said the ES 350e was expected at dealerships in April 2026 with a base MSRP of $47,500. Its May 2026 hybrid announcement said the ES 350h was expected in dealerships in June 2026 with a base MSRP of $49,700. These are dated manufacturer-announced base MSRPs and timing, not current inventory checks, dealer quotes, transaction prices, or out-the-door totals. The cited announcements do not state a U.S. base MSRP for the ES 500e.

Which 2026 Lexus ES should you compare?
- Choose what to investigate if you want a hybrid: the ES 350h combines gasoline and electric propulsion, has standard FWD and optional AWD, and Lexus reports 46 mpg combined EPA-estimated for FWD.
- Compare the ES 350e if you want an EV with FWD: it has the highest published range of the three configurations when equipped with standard 19-inch wheels, at an EPA-estimated 307 miles.
- Compare the ES 500e if you want an EV with AWD and more output: Lexus rates it at 338 hp, versus 221 hp for the 350e.
- Check the exact wheel and trim configuration: Lexus’s estimated EV range differs between standard 19-inch and available 21-inch wheels, and listed equipment can depend on trim or package.
For an apples-to-apples decision, compare the specific car’s drive layout, wheel size, equipment, current dealer price, and—in an EV’s case—your charging access. Lexus’s launch figures explain the announced lineup, but they do not substitute for a current vehicle quote or an independent real-world range test.
