The 2026 Subaru Uncharted pairs a longer-range, front-wheel-drive entry trim with two 338-hp all-wheel-drive versions. Subaru equips the AWD Sport and GT with X-MODE settings for mud and other challenging surfaces, but the available road test did not evaluate muddy trails. For most buyers, the key choice is between the Premium’s 308-mile manufacturer-estimated range and the AWD trims’ added power and traction equipment.
Which 2026 Uncharted trim has 338 horsepower?
In Subaru of America’s U.S. lineup, the Sport AWD and GT AWD use dual-motor all-wheel drive and are rated by Subaru at 338 hp. The Premium is front-wheel drive and rated at 221 hp. That distinction matters: the least expensive trim is also the only one with the longer stated range, while AWD and X-MODE are standard on Sport and GT.

Power and range figures are Subaru claims for the 2026 model year; the range figures are not real-world road-test results. The December 2025 U.S. announcement lists MSRP before destination and delivery charges. It gives a $1,450 destination-and-delivery charge for most states and $1,600 for Alaska retailers, with specified exceptions; the Premium was described as available in limited numbers. What the GT adds
Subaru positions the GT as the better-equipped AWD trim. Its listed features include a panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, Harman Kardon audio, 20-inch wheels, heated rear outboard seats, and a digital rearview mirror. The Sport shares the 338-hp AWD powertrain and X-MODE, so the GT’s premium is primarily a step up in equipment rather than more stated horsepower.

What does “mud-ready” mean on the Uncharted?
Subaru specifies 8.2 inches of ground clearance and describes available dual-function X-MODE with settings for snow, dirt, deep snow, and mud. The manufacturer also describes AWD traction for all-weather and all-terrain surfaces. On the 2026 U.S. lineup, that equipment belongs to the Sport and GT; the Premium is front-wheel drive.
Those specifications make the AWD trims equipped for conditions where extra traction and ground clearance can help. They do not establish that the Uncharted has been independently tested on muddy trails, nor do they make it a dedicated off-roader. If muddy access roads are part of your routine, consider the route’s depth, ruts, obstacles, tires, and recovery options rather than treating a “mud” mode as a guarantee of passage. How much range and charging capability does it offer?
Subaru’s 2026 trim comparison lists 308 miles for Premium FWD, 287 miles for Sport AWD, and 273 miles for GT AWD. All three are listed with a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery. The range spread is useful context when choosing: AWD adds traction and power, while the FWD version has the greatest stated distance per charge.
Subaru lists an 11-kW onboard Level 2 charger and a maximum 150-kW DC fast-charge rate. Its estimate is about 28 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% on DC fast charging. For home charging, Subaru estimates about six hours from the low-charge warning point using 240V at 32A. These are manufacturer estimates, not guarantees; actual time depends on conditions, equipment, and the charging station. Charging access
Subaru says its 2026-and-newer EVs use a NACS port and have access to Tesla Superchargers; its feature page references more than 25,000 fast chargers. Subaru also describes standard adapters for broader charging access. Tom’s Guide’s week-long review of a 2026 Uncharted GT reports 150.8 miles driven at an average 3.4 miles per kWh. The writer also recorded 7 miles per kWh during a short, mostly slower-speed test. Those are observations from one reviewer’s driving, not a standardized efficiency result or a prediction for every owner.

Which Uncharted makes sense for your driving?
- Choose Premium FWD if: you prioritize the highest Subaru-stated range and a lower starting MSRP, and do not need AWD or X-MODE.
- Choose Sport AWD if: you want the 338-hp dual-motor setup and X-MODE without stepping up to the GT’s listed premium features.
- Choose GT AWD if: you want the same stated power and AWD traction as Sport, along with the GT’s added comfort and audio equipment.
