How should you compare price and drivetrain?
The Forester Premium Hybrid starts at $34,730 with AWD included. Toyota lists the FWD RAV4 LE at $31,900, while the AWD RAV4 XSE is $41,300. The least expensive RAV4 figure is for a FWD model, so it is not an equivalent drivetrain comparison with the standard-AWD Forester. The AWD XSE is a specific higher-priced RAV4 grade, not a direct price match for the Forester Premium Hybrid.

Before deciding, compare the exact grades you can buy and the equipment each includes. The cited figures do not establish a full equipment-by-equipment match or the price of an equivalent AWD RAV4 grade. Is Toyota’s RAV4 plug-in hybrid part of this comparison?
No. Toyota also sells a RAV4 plug-in hybrid, which is a separate powertrain and should not be mixed with the conventional RAV4 Hybrid figures above. Make sure the vehicle listing and specifications you compare are for the conventional hybrid if that is the type you are shopping for.
