What is new about the 2026 Nissan Sentra?
Nissan calls the 2026 Sentra all-new, with bolder exterior styling, an overhauled cabin and added connectivity. The basic powertrain formula remains familiar: a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive and an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The U.S. lineup has four grades: S, SV, SR and SL. Nissan’s overview and U.S. launch release describe the redesign and features.
Nissan says it retuned the CVT for smoother, more natural acceleration and added Sport mode on grades other than S. Those are manufacturer descriptions; they do not establish an independently measured acceleration or transmission-performance result.
How much horsepower does the 2026 Nissan Sentra have?
The 2.0-liter engine is rated at 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Nissan’s 2026 Sentra brochure lists front-wheel drive, an Xtronic CVT, independent strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. It is a gasoline-only powertrain, not a hybrid.

Nissan’s launch release describes the car as using “a proven and reliable powertrain to deliver a dynamic, yet efficient driving experience.” That is the automaker’s promotional characterization, rather than an independent performance finding.
What is the 2026 Nissan Sentra’s mpg?
Nissan’s brochure gives different EPA fuel-economy estimates by grade. The 38-mpg figure is the S and SV highway estimate, not the combined rating.

Does the 2026 Sentra have a 12.3-inch screen?
Dual 12.3-inch displays are available, not universal across the lineup. Nissan also advertises wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, available Bose Premium Audio with eight speakers and a 10-inch woofer, and Zero Gravity seats. Available equipment varies by grade and package; consult Nissan’s feature matrix before assuming a particular car has it.

Nissan also describes available customizable ambient lighting and Intelligent Around View Monitor as class-exclusive features; availability depends on grade or package.
Is the 2026 Nissan Sentra quiet on the highway?
Nissan says it reduced body openings, enlarged the steering-wheel damper and revised shock-absorber valving to limit road vibration, sound levels and impact harshness. The company characterizes the new model as quieter and more comfortable than its predecessor. The available evidence does not include decibel measurements or an independent direct noise comparison, so a class-leading quietness claim cannot be confirmed.

In Tom’s Guide, reviewer John Velasco described a week with an SR. He found the car appealing for its price and equipment, but judged the difference in Sport mode modest and said the optional Bose setup lacked the low-end depth he expected. Those are his impressions of that test car, not measured findings or a verdict on every trim and listener. Read Velasco’s review.
What does the 2026 Sentra cost?
Tom’s Guide reported a $22,600 starting price for the S and a $31,945 tested price for the SR in its 2026 review. These are the publication’s reported figures, not a current nationwide quote; the tested car’s equipment, fees and market conditions may differ from another transaction. Check the configuration and dealer pricing for the car you are considering.

Nissan lists Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, High Beam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition among the standard technologies. Intelligent Cruise Control is listed as standard across grades. ProPILOT Assist and Intelligent Around View Monitor depend on grade or package.

Driver-assistance systems have limitations; Nissan says drivers must remain attentive and in control. Nissan’s Sentra overview displays an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ accolade. That is the manufacturer page’s displayed claim; check the IIHS award information for the award’s criteria and applicability before comparing safety ratings.

Nissan lists seating for five and 14.3 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Passenger volume is 96.1 cubic feet without a moonroof and 94.3 cubic feet with one. The launch release also describes a low trunk liftover and an optimized trunk opening.
For owners shopping for cargo-area protection, Nissan’s brochure lists a four-piece “All-Season Floor Mats — High Wall Liners” set as an accessory, along with trunk protection and organizers. Confirm model-year and trim compatibility before buying; the brochure does not establish fitment for third-party products or availability through a particular retailer.

Who should consider the 2026 Nissan Sentra?
The Sentra merits a look from compact-sedan shoppers who want a gasoline powertrain, useful published fuel economy and the option of upscale display and convenience features. Compare specific trims rather than the nameplate alone: the EPA estimates and available equipment vary, and the premium technology is concentrated in particular grades and packages.
To judge its value against another sedan, compare similarly equipped transaction prices, EPA combined economy, whether the rival offers a hybrid, standard versus optional safety and cabin technology, independently reported ride or noise impressions, and rear-seat and trunk utility. The figures available here do not establish a competitor-by-competitor winner.
