The 2026 Nissan Rogue Plug-in Hybrid is Nissan’s first plug-in hybrid offered in the U.S. It pairs a 20-kWh battery and two electric motors with a gasoline engine, seats up to seven across three rows, and comes standard with all-wheel drive. Nissan lists an estimated 38 miles of electric range and starting prices of $45,990 for the SL and $49,990 for the Platinum, before the separately listed $1,545 destination charge.
What Nissan revealed
Nissan announced the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid on November 17, 2025, describing it as its first U.S. plug-in hybrid. The company said the SUV would debut publicly at the Los Angeles Auto Show from November 21–30, 2025, and initially projected an early-2026 dealership arrival. Nissan’s later pricing announcement specified a February dealer arrival. Mitsubishi Motors, which reported that production began in January 2026, scheduled North American sales for the first quarter of 2026. These are announced milestones, not confirmation of inventory at a particular dealership. Nissan’s reveal announcement and Mitsubishi’s production announcement provide the timeline.
Nissan executive Ponz Pandikuthira, senior vice president and chief product officer for Nissan Americas, called it “an important step in Nissan’s electrification roadmap.”
Powertrain, range and efficiency
Nissan specifies a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, two electric motors and a 20-kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined system output is listed at 248 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is standard, and Nissan lists seven drive modes, including EV, Save and Charge modes, plus regenerative-braking choices. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent performance measurements. Nissan’s press kit has the powertrain details.

Nissan lists an estimated electric range of up to 38 miles and estimated combined range of up to 420 miles using electricity and gasoline. Its published efficiency figures are 64 MPGe and 26 mpg combined when operating on gasoline. Treat these as manufacturer/EPA estimates shown by Nissan: the available official materials do not establish independent real-world range or fuel-economy results. Actual results can vary with conditions and use. The figures appear in Nissan’s press kit and specifications page.
Charging: connector, time and equipment
Nissan specifies a J1772 charge port and estimates a 7.5-hour charge using Level 2 power at 240 volts. A portable Level 1 cable for a 120-volt outlet is standard. The 7.5-hour figure is Nissan’s estimate; charging time can depend on the power supply and charging conditions. A compatible Level 2 home charger is optional equipment, not something Nissan’s materials say is included. Buyers considering one should check their home’s electrical capacity, installation requirements and charger compatibility before purchasing.

The Rogue Plug-in Hybrid is a three-row SUV with seating for seven. Its plug-in format is intended to combine electric-only local driving with gasoline-hybrid range for longer trips. The manufacturer’s 38-mile electric-range estimate can help shoppers judge whether their typical local driving might fit within the electric portion, but the estimate is not a promise of real-world distance. The reviewed official materials do not provide independent testing or enough comparative data to rank it against other plug-in SUVs.
