The 2026 Nissan Armada is the lower-cost starting point; the 2026 INFINITI QX80 costs more and offers a higher horsepower rating and luxury-positioned equipment. Both advertise up to 8,500 pounds of towing. The right choice depends less on the shared headline specs than on the trim, seating layout, equipment and local price you can actually buy.
How much more does the QX80 cost?
Nissan lists the 2026 Armada SV 4×2 at a starting MSRP of $58,840 and the SL 4×2 at $63,530. Higher-spec examples include the NISMO 4×4 at $79,530 and Platinum Reserve 4×4 at $80,550, according to Nissan USA’s 2026 Armada pricing and specifications.
Cars.com displays a starting MSRP of $83,750 for the 2026 INFINITI QX80 Pure RWD. That is a third-party listing, not a confirmed current official INFINITI price; check with INFINITI and local dealers for the current figure and applicable fees. Comparing that display with Nissan’s Armada SV 4×2 produces a $24,910 starting-price gap, but the trims and drivetrains differ, so it is not a like-for-like value comparison. Are they mechanically different?
Both use a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 and a nine-speed automatic transmission, but their published output figures differ. Nissan specifies the Armada’s engine as twin-turbocharged, with 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. INFINITI’s 2026 brochure lists the QX80 at 450 horsepower and 515 lb-ft; its Pure powertrain is described as a 3.5L V6 Turbo. Nissan’s 2026 Armada specifications and INFINITI’s 2026 QX80 brochure
In other words, the QX80 has 25 more horsepower on paper, while the Armada has a one-lb-ft higher published torque figure. Those ratings do not establish which feels quicker, quieter or smoother in everyday driving; that depends on the vehicle and conditions, and the available information does not provide a controlled back-to-back test.

What do you get for the luxury-brand premium?
The QX80 is INFINITI’s luxury-positioned model, and its brochure identifies equipment such as available electronic air suspension and second-row comfort features by trim. It also lists an integrated Class IV tow hitch and 7-pin wiring harness with cover on Pure. Confirm the standard and optional equipment on the exact vehicle: features can vary by trim and package. The available information does not establish a complete, matched-trim equipment comparison, so a higher price alone cannot tell you which SUV has the better equipment value. How many people can each seat?
Nissan’s 2026 brochure lists the Armada with either eight seats when equipped with a second-row bench or seven with second-row captain’s chairs. Nissan’s 2026 Armada brochure
For the QX80, check the seating arrangement and comfort equipment on the specific trim and seat package rather than assuming every version has the same layout. For either SUV, bring the people and child seats that will use it to a test drive. Check access to the second and third rows, buckle reach, visibility and whether the cargo area meets your needs with your usual number of passengers aboard.

Do they tow the same amount?
Both manufacturers advertise maximum towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds for the 2026 models. That shared maximum does not mean every trim or setup can tow that much. Before towing, verify the exact vehicle’s rating and account for payload, passengers, cargo, trailer equipment and the trailer’s loaded weight. Use the owner’s manual and towing guide for the specific configuration. Nissan’s Armada materials and INFINITI’s QX80 materials
What should you check before choosing?
- Compare actual prices: Get local quotes for the same model year and as closely matched trims and drivetrains as possible.
- Check the equipment: Use each vehicle’s window sticker to compare included and optional comfort, driver-assistance and convenience features.
- Choose the seating layout: For the Armada, decide whether the second-row bench and eight-seat capacity or captain’s chairs and seven-seat capacity suit your household.
- Test the fit: Drive comparable trims and assess ride, visibility, parking, child-seat access and third-row comfort.
- Confirm towing details: Match the vehicle’s exact ratings and payload to your loaded trailer and passengers.
- Check local ownership factors: Compare available inventory and dealer support where you live.
Which one should you buy?
Start with the Armada if a lower entry price is your priority and its seating and equipment meet your needs. Consider the QX80 if its luxury-positioned trim features and higher horsepower rating justify the additional cost to you. Neither model wins on advertised maximum towing capacity alone. A test drive in comparable trims and current local quotes are the most useful way to settle the choice.
