The 2026 Nissan Armada NISMO is the most powerful Armada yet, but its changes go beyond an engine tune. It adds 35 horsepower on premium fuel, retuned steering and suspension, 22-inch forged wheels, and a louder exhaust character to Nissan’s large three-row SUV. MotorTrend recorded 6.2 seconds from 0 to 60 mph in its test, while also noting turbo lag at low speed and occasional transmission hesitation.
What does the Armada NISMO add?
NISMO is a new, performance-oriented grade for the 2026 Armada. It keeps the model’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and nine-speed automatic but revises the engine calibration and chassis tuning, and adds distinctive exterior and cabin details. Nissan lists it with four-wheel drive.

Specifications are from Nissan’s 2026 Armada model page and 2026 Armada brochure. Nissan says the NISMO’s 460-hp rating requires premium fuel; its peak torque matches the other versions.
Chassis, wheels and appearance
The NISMO gets 22-inch RAYS forged wheels with performance tires, revised steering and suspension tuning, and a more pronounced exhaust sound. Red accents distinguish the cabin. These additions make it a road-focused alternative within the Armada lineup, rather than simply a higher-output engine option.

For context, Nissan lists the PRO-4X with 9.6 inches of minimum ground clearance, all-terrain tires and a locking rear differential. Those features point to a different use case than the NISMO’s performance-tire setup; the NISMO’s listed minimum clearance is 8.8 inches. Both figures are from Nissan’s 2026 brochure.
How quick is the 2026 Armada NISMO?
MotorTrend measured 0–60 mph in 6.2 seconds in its NISMO test vehicle, which weighed 5,997 pounds and had a nine-speed automatic. That is a result from MotorTrend’s test, not a Nissan-published performance figure. Its account describes a large SUV that gathers speed with purpose once the turbochargers spool, but can feel slow to respond just off idle.

MotorTrend also reported that the transmission sometimes seemed unsure how to respond to engine inputs. That matters in ordinary driving: the added horsepower is most apparent once boost arrives, rather than guaranteeing an immediate surge from every low-speed throttle input. These are observations from MotorTrend’s first test, not independent claims about every driving situation.
How much does the 2026 Armada NISMO cost?
Nissan announced a U.S. MSRP of $79,530 for the 2026 Armada NISMO, excluding $2,275 for destination and handling. That makes the announced price $81,805 before taxes, fees, options or dealer adjustments; Nissan says dealers set actual transaction prices. MotorTrend reported an as-tested price of $83,735 for its test vehicle, which may include equipment beyond the base MSRP.

Nissan’s August 14, 2025 pricing announcement said the 2026 model was on sale that month. For current availability or local pricing, check the 2026 Armada page and dealer listings; inventory and transaction prices can vary.
Does the NISMO still tow?
The NISMO is listed with 4WD, and Nissan rates the 2026 Armada for up to 8,500 pounds of towing, depending on configuration. Nissan’s published figure is a model-line maximum, not a confirmed rating for every NISMO. Check the specific vehicle’s towing documentation and equipment before matching it to a trailer.

What the first test says about the cabin
MotorTrend’s reviewer appreciated the cabin and reported no functional issues with the dual screens during the test. The review praised the physical HVAC controls, while criticizing the gear-selection controls. Those impressions describe that outlet’s test experience; they are not a claim that every driver will find the layout equally convenient.

The NISMO makes the most sense for buyers who want an Armada’s three-row size and V8-like torque delivery with a sportier presentation and the lineup’s highest horsepower rating. Its 22-inch wheel-and-tire package, road-oriented performance tires and firmer tuning are part of the proposition, not incidental trim details. Buyers prioritizing the PRO-4X’s off-road equipment should weigh that grade’s terrain-oriented hardware instead.
