The 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology is the first production electric GLC, and it looks more like a familiar midsize SUV than a radical redesign. Its standout change is an illuminated, animated grille; underneath, it brings an 800-volt electrical system, fast DC charging and Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS software platform. European versions are on sale, while the U.S. GLC 400 is scheduled to arrive at dealers in fall 2026.
What is the electric GLC, and when does it arrive?
The electric GLC is a battery-powered midsize SUV in the GLC family. Mercedes-Benz unveiled it at IAA Mobility in Munich on September 7, 2025. German sales began October 29, 2025. In the United States, Mercedes-Benz lists the GLC 400 4MATIC for fall 2026 dealer arrival; that timing is for the U.S. model, not a global launch date.
The European launch range comprises the rear-wheel-drive GLC 250 and two all-wheel-drive models, the GLC 300 4MATIC and GLC 400 4MATIC. The U.S. guide covers the GLC 400. Specifications and prices differ by market, so European WLTP figures should not be read as U.S. EPA estimates.
Does it look like the gas GLC?
In its overall shape and proportions, yes: the electric model remains recognizably a GLC-style SUV rather than adopting a radically different body. The visual break from the combustion model is most obvious at the front. The new grille has a wide chrome frame, a smoked-glass-effect lattice and integrated contour lighting. An optional illuminated panel uses 942 backlit dots and can display animations, including an illuminated central star.

Mercedes-Benz says the electric GLC is its first production vehicle to use the elevated Sensual Purity design language. Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener described the grille as a feature that “redefines the face of our brand.” That sums up the contrast: familiar SUV form, conspicuously new face.
How far can each version go, and how quickly does it charge?
Mercedes-Benz’s European figures below use the WLTP test cycle. WLTP and EPA results are produced under different test procedures, so they are not directly interchangeable.

| European version | Drive | Usable battery | Peak power | WLTP range | Maximum DC charging | DC charge time, 10–80% | German price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GLC 250 | Rear-wheel drive | 85 kWh | 260 kW | 541–650 km | 320 kW | 22 minutes | €64,736, including German VAT |
| GLC 300 4MATIC | All-wheel drive | 85 kWh | 310 kW | 523–616 km | 320 kW | 22 minutes | €68,306, including German VAT |

Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. guide rates the GLC 400 at 350 miles of EPA range, or 331 miles with all-season tires. It lists a 94-kWh usable battery, up to 330 kW DC charging and a 22-minute 10–80% charge time. Those are U.S.-market figures for that model, not estimates for the European variants.
Maximum charging power is a peak rating, not a promise that a charging session will stay at that rate. The stated 22 minutes is the manufacturer’s 10–80% charging figure; actual time at a public charger can vary with conditions and the charger.

- WORKS WITH EVERY NON-TESLA EV: Standard J1772 connector plugs straight into Ford, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, Rivian, Lucid and every other EV or plug-in hybrid sold with a J1772 port - no adapter needed. Tesla drivers can charge too, using the J1772 adapter that comes with the car.
- PLUG IN, NO HARDWIRING: Level 2 charger delivers up to 40A to fully charge most EVs overnight. Plugs into a 240V, 4-prong NEMA 14-50 outlet (the RV/range type - NOT a dryer outlet) on a dedicated 50A circuit. The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway. Before ordering, check your car's port type and that you have the right outlet.
- CONTROL & SAVE FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start/stop charging, set speed (6-40A), get reminders, and track energy use and cost. Schedule off-peak overnight charging to cut your electric bill. Requires 2.4 GHz WiFi.
- SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
- GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.
How much does the electric GLC cost?
For Germany, the listed launch prices are VAT-inclusive: €64,736 for the GLC 250, €68,306 for the GLC 300 4MATIC and €71,281 for the GLC 400 4MATIC. Mercedes-Benz USA lists a $63,500 MSRP for the GLC 400 before a $1,450 destination charge. The German prices and U.S. MSRP are not like-for-like comparisons: they apply to different markets and use different tax and delivery-price conventions.

Optional AIRMATIC air suspension and 4.5-degree rear-axle steering are listed for the model range. Equipment and availability can depend on market and configuration; the published figures here do not establish that every option is offered on every version.
What does MB.OS add?
MB.OS is Mercedes-Benz’s software platform for infotainment, comfort, charging and driver assistance, with over-the-air updates. In its U.S. description, Mercedes-Benz says the system’s chip can perform 254 trillion operations per second. That is a stated chip capability, not a measure of vehicle speed or range.
