The redesigned 2026 Lexus ES adds both hybrid and all-electric versions, but it has not been announced as a replacement for the LS. Lexus unveiled the eighth-generation sedan in Shanghai on April 23, 2025, and said it would go on sale in the U.S. in 2026; the company has not specified a U.S. arrival week. The new lineup includes three powertrain choices, with listed U.S. prices from $48,795 to $60,195.
When does the 2026 Lexus ES arrive?
Lexus unveiled the new ES at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition on April 23, 2025. Its U.S. announcement said the 2026 model would go on sale in 2026, but did not give a specific arrival week. Does the ES replace the Lexus LS?
No LS replacement has been announced. Lexus describes the LS as its flagship and says the ES joined the lineup alongside the LS in 1989. The new ES is a substantially redesigned sedan with more powertrain choices, but Lexus has not said it is taking the LS’s place. Lexus USA Newsroom
Which 2026 Lexus ES versions are available?
The lineup pairs a hybrid with two battery-electric versions. The ES 350h is a hybrid offered with front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). The ES 350e is a front-wheel-drive battery-electric vehicle, while the ES 500e is an all-wheel-drive EV using Lexus DIRECT4.

Lexus says the ES 350h uses a sixth-generation 2.5-liter hybrid system with an integrated eAxle. Both EVs have an underfloor battery and a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. Lexus USA Newsroom

What range and charging does the electric ES offer?
Lexus estimates 300 miles of range for the ES 350e and 250 miles for the ES 500e, both with 19-inch wheels. These are manufacturer estimates, not independent or real-world test results. Lexus cautions that weather and other factors can affect range and charging time. Lexus USA Newsroom
The two EVs support Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging through an 11-kW onboard charger. Lexus says DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes around 30 minutes under ideal conditions. A NACS connector is built into both models; that confirms the port standard, but does not establish which charging equipment is included with the vehicle or validate a particular third-party charger.

What changes in the cabin and chassis?
Compared with the previous ES, the new sedan is approximately 6.5 inches longer overall and has a wheelbase 3 inches longer. Lexus says the higher seating position is intended to make entry and exit easier. On the North American ES 350e Luxury, the Executive Package adds reclining rear seats, a passenger-side ottoman, massage for the rear outboard seats, and rear-seat heating and ventilation.
The redesigned TNGA GA-K platform uses MacPherson struts at the front and, for the first time in an ES, a multi-link rear suspension. Lexus describes a more spacious cabin and quieter ride as design goals; those descriptions are not independent measurements.

Every version gets a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The multimedia system adds split-screen capability and can integrate maps with the digital gauge cluster. Lexus also says this is the first ES equipped with Lexus Safety System+ 4.0. The announcement describes updated hardware and detection capabilities but does not enumerate every function. Which ES should you consider?
- Choose the ES 350h if you want a hybrid. It is the lineup’s hybrid choice and is offered in FWD and AWD configurations.
- Consider the ES 350e if you want an EV with the higher quoted range. Lexus estimates 300 miles with 19-inch wheels; it is FWD.
- Consider the ES 500e if AWD is a priority. It uses Lexus DIRECT4, and Lexus estimates 250 miles with 19-inch wheels.
- Look at the ES 350e Luxury Executive Package for specific rear-seat amenities. Lexus lists reclining rear seats, a passenger ottoman, rear outboard massage, and rear-seat heating and ventilation for that North American configuration.
