The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is faster on Chevrolet’s published acceleration figures and in GM’s reported Nürburgring comparison. The headline figures compare specific configurations: a ZR1 with the ZTK Performance Package and a Z06 with the Z07 package. They are manufacturer-reported results, not a controlled independent head-to-head test.
Which is faster: the ZR1 or Z06?
Chevrolet quotes 0–60 mph in 2.3 seconds for the ZR1 with ZTK and 2.6 seconds for the Z06 with Z07, a 0.3-second difference in the published claims. Chevrolet says the ZR1 figure comes from a closed course and is based on initial vehicle movement. Treat these as manufacturer figures, not results from an independent same-day comparison. Chevrolet’s acceleration announcement gives the package labels and test context.
GM also reported a quicker Nürburgring Nordschleife lap for a ZTK-equipped ZR1 than for a Z07-equipped Z06. Those laps were driven by different GM engineers, so the time difference cannot be attributed to the cars alone.
How do their acceleration and power compare?
| Configuration | 0–60 mph | Quarter-mile | Engine output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 Corvette ZR1, standard aero | 2.5 seconds, Chevrolet claim | 9.7 seconds, Chevrolet claim | 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft, Chevrolet listing for the LT7 |
| 2025 Corvette ZR1 with ZTK | 2.3 seconds, Chevrolet claim | 9.6 seconds, Chevrolet claim | 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft, Chevrolet listing for the LT7 |
| 2025 Corvette Z06 with Z07 | 2.6 seconds, Chevrolet claim | Not stated in the cited Chevrolet announcement | 670 hp, as reported by GM in its Nürburgring account |
Chevrolet says its ZR1 quarter-mile tests used 93-octane pump fuel on a non-prepped surface. The standard-aero ZR1’s reported trap speed was 152 mph, 2 mph higher than the ZTK car’s. These results illustrate why a package’s added track focus does not necessarily mean it leads every individual metric. The cited sources do not provide a comparable Z06 quarter-mile result. Chevrolet’s release contains the acceleration and quarter-mile claims; its January 2025 pricing and specifications release lists ZR1 output.

What makes the ZR1 and Z06 different?
ZR1: twin-turbocharged power
The ZR1’s 5.5-liter LT7 is a twin-turbocharged V8 rated by Chevrolet at 1,064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque. That output gives the ZR1 a substantial power advantage over the Z06 figures cited here and underpins its stronger published straight-line numbers.
Z06: naturally aspirated V8 character
GM describes the Z06’s 5.5-liter V8 as naturally aspirated and flat-plane-crank, with 670 hp in its Nürburgring account. Its engine delivers its performance without turbocharging; the comparison is not simply a question of peak output, because package, tires, aerodynamics and circuit setup also matter.

What do the Nürburgring lap times show?
| Car and package | GM-reported Nordschleife time | Configuration detail |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 Corvette ZR1 with ZTK | 6:50.763 | Michelin Cup 2R tires standard on the reported ZTK setup |
| 2025 Corvette Z06 with Z07 | 7:11.826 | Michelin Cup 2R tires available with Z07 |
GM’s reported ZR1 lap was 21.063 seconds quicker. The result compares the stated package configurations, but it is not a controlled test with the same driver: different GM engineer-drivers completed the laps. GM also says both cars were U.S. production-spec vehicles with track-recommended safety equipment. The lap times therefore establish what GM reported for these particular runs, not a definitive, driver-neutral measure of the gap between every ZR1 and Z06. GM’s Nürburgring release gives the times, drivers’ context and configurations.
What do ZTK and Z07 change?
ZTK and Z07 identify the track-focused configurations in the comparisons above; the figures should not be generalized to every ZR1 or Z06. Tire availability is one documented distinction: Michelin Cup 2R tires were standard on the reported ZR1 ZTK setup and available with Z06 Z07. The cited configuration information does not establish that every car equipped with either package has identical tires or setup, so check the specific vehicle’s equipment. GM’s configuration table identifies the Nürburgring cars’ package and tire details.

How much does the ZR1 cost compared with the Z06?
Chevrolet announced a U.S. starting MSRP of $174,995 for the 2025 ZR1 1LZ coupe, including a $1,695 destination freight charge, in its January 9, 2025 release. That historical MSRP excludes taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment; dealers set final prices. The cited sources do not establish a comparable Z06 MSRP, so they do not support a precise price-gap calculation or a current transaction-price comparison. Chevrolet’s announcement provides the ZR1 figure and its qualifications.
Which Corvette should you choose?
- Choose the ZR1 if your priority is maximum power and the quicker published acceleration figures among these configurations.
- Consider the Z06 if you want the naturally aspirated, flat-plane-crank V8 and a track-capable package without assuming that the ZR1’s power advantage makes every setup or driving experience interchangeable.
- For track use, compare the actual cars. Confirm package, tire fitment and equipment rather than relying on a model name alone.
Track preparation and safe use
Chevrolet warns that high-performance features are intended only for closed tracks and experienced, qualified drivers, not public roads. Before track driving, follow the vehicle owner’s manual and 2025 Corvette Track Preparation Guide, and verify the specific car’s tire and brake configuration.
