When was the 2026 Lexus ES revealed?
Lexus unveiled the redesigned ES at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition on April 23, 2025. The company called it the first core Lexus model reimagined as a multi-platform vehicle, with hybrid and battery-electric powertrains and front- and all-wheel-drive options across the lineup. Lexus described its styling direction as “Clean Tech x Elegance” and said the LF-ZC electric concept influenced the design. The reveal date and model year are different: the 2026 designation refers to the car’s model year, while its global unveiling took place in 2025. Subsequent sales timing varies by market. Which 2026 Lexus ES versions are available in the U.S.?
The U.S. range comprises two battery-electric models and one gas-electric hybrid. The model name identifies the powertrain; the drive layout and listed figures differ by version.

How do the electric ES 350e and ES 500e differ?
The ES 350e is the single-motor, front-wheel-drive EV; the ES 500e adds a rear motor for all-wheel drive and higher combined output. Both use the same listed 74.7-kWh battery. Lexus’s EPA-estimated range is higher for the 350e: 307 miles on standard 19-inch wheels and 292 on available 21-inch wheels, compared with 276 and 272 miles respectively for the 500e. The wheel-size effect is not identical between the models, so use the estimate for the specific configuration rather than assuming one universal figure.
These are manufacturer-published EPA estimates, not independent road-test measurements. Actual range depends on use and conditions; the cited figures alone do not establish how either ES will perform on a particular route. What are the ES 350h hybrid’s fuel economy and drivetrain options?
The ES 350h pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a hybrid system and is rated by Lexus at 244 hp combined. Front-wheel drive is standard; all-wheel drive is optional. Lexus gives EPA-estimated combined fuel economy of 46 mpg for FWD and 44 mpg for AWD. Those are configuration-specific estimates, not independent test results. Lexus USA ES 350h specifications

How does charging the electric ES work?
For U.S. BEVs, Lexus lists a NACS J3400-style charge port, a CCS-to-NACS adapter and a dual-voltage Level 1/Level 2 charging cable. Lexus says the onboard 11-kW AC charger can replenish the battery in about seven hours on Level 2 under ideal conditions. For DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, Lexus estimates a 10-to-80-percent charge in about 28 minutes, also under ideal conditions. Lexus presents the eighth-generation car as a full redesign and says its platform supports hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The U.S. hybrid announcement describes the underpinnings as an evolution of the previous ES TNGA-K platform adapted for combustion and all-electric versions. Lexus also says the new ES is larger than its predecessor and lists 1.4 inches more rear-seat legroom for the U.S. hybrid; that is the automaker’s dimensional comparison, not a measurement of perceived comfort. Lexus lists a 12.3-inch driver Multi-Information Display, a 14.0-inch central touchscreen and Lexus Safety System+ 4.0 across 2026 ES models. The hybrid release also specifies wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a wireless device charger. Connected services and some BEV features vary by trim and may require a trial or subscription, so check the equipment and service terms for the precise U.S. configuration. On the BEV Luxury trim, Lexus lists an optional Executive Package limited to the ES 350e Luxury. It includes power-adjustable rear seating, heated and ventilated outboard rear seats, massage functions and a passenger-side ottoman. When does the 2026 Lexus ES go on sale?
Timing depends on market and powertrain. Lexus USA’s March 18, 2026 announcement said the ES 350e and ES 500e were expected at U.S. dealers in April; its May 1, 2026 hybrid announcement said the ES 350h was expected in June. Those announcements describe expected dealer arrivals, not verified inventory at every retailer. In Japan, Toyota’s newsroom reports the new ES went on sale through Lexus dealers on June 11, 2026.
