What changed in the 2026 Kia Sportage’s design?
Kia revealed the 2026 Sportage at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 21, 2024, calling it a significant update to the fifth-generation model. The company framed the refreshed styling around its “Opposites United” design philosophy, with revised front and rear details, LED Star Map lighting and amber daytime running lights. Kia described the result as “a more confident look with front and rear design enhancements” in its U.S. announcement.
The changes are not identical across regions. Kia UK’s current Sportage page describes a Star Map rear-lamp graphic, revised rear bumper and skid plate, and wheel choices of 17, 18 or 19 inches. It also shows a new two-spoke steering wheel on specified trims. These are UK-market details, not a universal equipment list.
What is new inside?
Kia’s U.S. announcement describes a curved dual-display arrangement in the cabin. A head-up display and Digital Key are also listed as available features, with availability dependent on trim or package. The announcement does not make these standard across the U.S. range.

Which powertrains were announced?
For the U.S. 2026 range, Kia announced gasoline, hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions. It also said it was adding hybrid trims and described Terrain Mode for specified all-wheel-drive and rugged trims. The announcement does not establish that every powertrain, drive layout or feature is offered on every trim.
U.S. lineup
The U.S. announcement identifies the three powertrain types but does not provide a complete trim-by-trim specification or pricing table in the material available here. Check a current U.S. listing or dealer for the exact configuration and equipment of a specific vehicle.

UK specifications
Kia UK lists a 1.6 T-GDi hybrid rated at 235 bhp for its GT-Line S Hybrid and a 1.6 T-GDi petrol rated at 147 bhp for its GT-Line S. Those figures apply to the named UK versions; they should not be treated as U.S. specifications.
Brazil specifications
Kia Brasil’s November 7, 2025 preview described a Brazil-market 2026 EX Prestige with a 1.6-liter turbo GDI gasoline engine and 48V mild-hybrid system, rated at 178 horsepower. A 48V mild-hybrid setup is distinct from the HEV and PHEV categories Kia announced for the U.S.; the regional descriptions should not be merged into one global specification.

When did the 2026 Sportage arrive?
At the November 2024 U.S. announcement, Kia forecast that the 2026 Sportage would reach showrooms in the second quarter of 2025. That was the expected timing when announced, not a future arrival date. Kia America’s current page now presents the 2027 Sportage, so shoppers looking for a new U.S. model should check current inventory rather than assume the 2026 is still the latest model year.

Kia America’s U.S. lineup page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists a starting MSRP of $28,990 for the 2027 Sportage and $30,590 for the 2027 Sportage Hybrid. These are current page figures, not launch prices for the 2026 model. How to compare versions without mixing markets
- Choose the powertrain category first. The U.S. announcement separates gasoline, HEV and PHEV versions; the Brazilian EX Prestige preview describes a 48V mild hybrid. Confirm the actual system on the regional version you are considering.
- Check drive layout and trim equipment. Kia describes Terrain Mode for specified AWD and rugged trims, while features such as the head-up display and Digital Key depend on U.S. trim or package.
- Use the right market’s specification page. UK power ratings, Brazil’s mild-hybrid description and U.S. model details apply to their respective markets. Trim names and equipment can differ.
