The 2026 Kia Sorento is a three-row SUV that Kia describes as “largely a carryover,” with selective equipment and trim changes. Kia’s published specifications confirm two gasoline engine outputs and a broad choice of trims and configurations. But the available evidence does not establish how the SUV drives or whether its third row and cargo area work well in everyday use, so treat those as questions to answer on your own test drive—not as proven strengths or flaws.
What changed for 2026?
In its September 22, 2025 U.S. announcement, Kia America called the gasoline Sorento “largely a carryover.” Kia says Terrain Mode is now standard on AWD models, X-Line and X-Pro trims gain glossy black exterior trim, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel is added. The announcement also lists equipment revisions by trim; consult Kia’s 2026 pricing and model-year announcement for the specific changes.
That is Kia’s description of the model-year update, not an independent assessment of what changed in use. The cited materials do not establish a driving improvement or a defect carried over from the previous model.
Which engine and drivetrain fit your use?
Kia lists two naturally aspirated or turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engines, depending on trim. Its published specifications give the naturally aspirated engine 191 hp and the turbocharged engine 281 hp. Compare the engine and drivetrain on the exact trim you are considering rather than assuming every version shares the same setup. Kia offers available AWD, and Terrain Mode is standard on AWD-equipped 2026 models. Those are configuration facts; the available information does not establish which engine or drivetrain is the best performer in real-world driving.
How do the trims, seating and equipment compare?
Kia offers the Sorento in multiple trim and drivetrain configurations. The choice is not just about price: check the engine, FWD or AWD availability, seating layout and included equipment on the specific vehicle. Kia advertises three-row seating and available second-row captain’s chairs; a bench and captain’s chairs serve different passenger and access needs, so inspect the layout that is actually on offer.

X-Pro models are positioned for more utility-oriented use. Kia advertises up to 4,500 lb of towing capacity for the X-Pro SX Prestige AWD, subject to equipment and the owner’s manual instructions. That figure applies to the specified configuration and does not establish that every Sorento can tow that amount. Confirm the vehicle’s equipment and follow the applicable towing guidance before relying on the rating.

What does the 2026 Sorento cost?
Kia America’s September 22, 2025 U.S. announcement lists a starting MSRP of $32,390 for the 2026 gasoline Sorento. The announced trim prices exclude a $1,495 destination charge; taxes, options and dealer charges are also additional. Kia’s current model page likewise says retailer price varies and fees are excluded. These are MSRP references, not an out-the-door quote or evidence of current rebates or transaction prices. Check the price of the actual trim and drivetrain with a local retailer before comparing value.
