KGM announced the new conventional Musso pickup in South Korea on January 5, 2026, and opened contracts the same day. The successor to the Musso Sports and Khan is offered with 2.0-liter turbo gasoline or 2.2-liter LET diesel power, in standard- and long-deck configurations. Its payload depends on the deck and rear suspension: KGM quotes maximums from 400 kg to 700 kg, not one figure for every Musso.
What KGM revealed in Korea
KGM positioned the pickup under the slogan “The Original” and described it as the successor to Musso Sports and Khan. It expands the conventional pickup range alongside the separately named Musso EV; the January announcement describes gasoline and diesel versions, not an electric powertrain for this Musso. KGM’s January 5, 2026 announcement says contracts opened in South Korea that day.

The Korean model is configurable around two engines and two deck lengths. KGM also announced features including four-wheel drive, an LD system, clear-site ground view, driver-assistance functions, intelligent adaptive cruise control, intelligent speed warning, 3D around-view monitoring, over-the-air updates and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The announcement does not give a complete trim-by-trim equipment chart, so these should be treated as announced features, not as standard equipment on every grade.

Engines, deck choices and payload
For the Korean launch, the key practical distinction is not simply standard deck versus long deck: KGM’s stated maximum payload also changes with the rear suspension. The figures below are configuration-specific maxima from the manufacturer’s announcement.

Those figures do not establish payload for every engine, grade or export-market version. Check the local specification and vehicle documentation for the exact combination being considered.
KGM announced 2.0 turbo gasoline and 2.2 LET diesel engines for Korea, but the launch release does not provide a full set of output, fuel-consumption or towing figures for each Korean configuration. It names four-wheel drive and an LD system among the features; the announcement does not map their availability across grades.

How the Korean Musso differs by market
The name Musso is also used for distinct market specifications. Korean launch prices, engines and payload figures should not be carried over to European or Australian vehicles.

Options and accessories shown
KGM’s Korean brochure depicts customization examples such as a sliding bed cover, roll bar and side steps. These images do not establish that a particular accessory is available in every market or fits both deck lengths. Before buying a cover or other bed accessory, confirm the vehicle’s model year, market and exact deck configuration with the seller or KGM. Is this the same as the Musso EV?
No. KGM’s Korean announcement treats the new gasoline- and diesel-powered Musso as a conventional pickup that follows the Musso Sports and Khan, and separately refers to the Musso EV. It does not provide a full side-by-side comparison with the electric model, so details such as relative range, carrying capacity and equipment should be checked in each model’s own market-specific specification.
What the launch information does—and does not—establish
The announcement provides a useful outline of Korean engine, deck, suspension, feature and price choices, but it is not an independent road test. It does not establish comparative real-world fuel economy, reliability, or instrumented performance. Buyers comparing models should use local homologated payload and towing figures and verify the precise grade and configuration with a KGM retailer.
