The 2026 Kawasaki W230 is a 233 cm³, air-cooled retro single with ABS, a six-speed gearbox, a 745 mm seat and a listed UK starting price of £4,654. It is a straightforward small-capacity classic on paper; however, the available evidence here is Kawasaki’s own specification and descriptions, not an independent road test, so ride impressions should be treated as manufacturer claims.
What is the Kawasaki W230?
The W230 is Kawasaki’s small-capacity, retro-styled motorcycle. The company says its design draws on the 1965 650-W1, pairing classic cues such as spoked wheels and round gauges with modern essentials including fuel injection and ABS. It is listed by Kawasaki UK among its A2 bikes, but that category label is not a substitute for checking the licensing rules that apply to you.
The 2026 UK model page lists Metallic Matte Dark Green. Kawasaki announced on 25 August 2026 that the W230 would continue into the 2027 range, arriving in August in Ebony at the same £4,654 price. Those are separate model-year listings; confirm the year, colour, dealer availability and any current offer before buying. How much does the Kawasaki W230 cost in the UK?
Kawasaki’s UK model page lists the 2026 W230 from £4,654. The same figure appears in its announcement of the 2027 model, but that announcement describes a different model year and availability. The launch announcement for the 2026 bike said it would reach UK dealers in January 2026; its statement about a small initial shipment referred to launch-period supply and does not establish current stock. What should the figures mean for a rider?
Accessible dimensions, with a light listed mass
A 745 mm seat height is a useful point of comparison for riders concerned about reach to the ground, while Kawasaki lists the bike’s curb mass at 143 kg. Neither number alone guarantees a particular fit: seat width, suspension sag, footwear and a rider’s proportions also affect how a motorcycle feels at a standstill. If reach matters, sit on the bike before deciding.

A small single with a six-speed gearbox
The 233 cm³ engine’s quoted peak outputs are 18 PS at 7,000 rpm and 18.6 N·m at 5,800 rpm. Kawasaki describes the power delivery as linear and the engine as having a low-to-mid-rpm rumble, with an internal engine balancer also noted in its 2027 announcement. These are the manufacturer’s characterisations, not independently verified riding impressions. The figures establish the engine’s stated output; they do not by themselves establish acceleration, motorway comfort or how it performs with a passenger.
Classic equipment with contemporary safety hardware
Spoked wheels, round retro-style gauges and a 12-litre tank support the old-school look. Kawasaki also lists an LCD display within the instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes and ABS. The combination gives the W230 recognisably traditional styling without relying on drum brakes or carburetion.

What does Kawasaki say it is like to ride?
Kawasaki describes relaxed, upright ergonomics, predictable handling, linear power delivery and a deep-bass exhaust note. The company’s 2025 launch announcement quoted Craig Watson, Kawasaki Motors UK Sales and Marketing Manager, calling it “a fantastic bike” and saying customers would need to be quick because only a small number were due to arrive the following year. That was a launch-period comment about initial 2026 supply, not evidence of current availability or an independent assessment of the motorcycle. Without a separately sourced road test, comfort, handling and engine character remain claims to assess in person.

Who should consider the W230?
The W230 is worth a closer look if you want a modest-capacity motorcycle with traditional styling, a low listed seat height, low listed curb mass and ABS. Its quoted output and feature set make it possible to assess against your intended use, but the available information does not establish how it compares on the road with rival retro singles.
