What the 2026 Jeep Recon is
The Recon is Jeep’s battery-electric SUV, designed around standard electric four-wheel drive and open-air flexibility. Its removable doors, rear quarter glass and swing-gate glass bring familiar Jeep-style open-air driving to an EV. A dual-pane sunroof is standard according to Jeep’s launch materials; the Sky One-Touch Power Top is listed as an available option, not standard equipment. Jeep also gives the Recon Trail Rated branding, which is a manufacturer designation rather than an independent trail-test result.
Jeep’s launch technical overview describes a 100-kWh, 400-volt battery and front and rear electric drive modules rated at 250 kW each. It lists Selec-Terrain modes of Auto, Sport, Snow and Sand, with Rock mode available on the Moab trim.
Price and availability
Jeep’s current U.S. model page lists a $66,995 starting MSRP and says limited quantities are available. That is a listed starting price, not an out-the-door quote or a guarantee of local stock; confirm dealer inventory, configuration and transaction costs with a local retailer. The earlier 2025 announcement gave a $65,000 starting-price figure, which is a launch-era claim and should not be confused with the current U.S. listing. For Canada, Jeep Canada’s models page lists the Moab starting at C$87,790. Keep that Canadian price separate from U.S. MSRP because the market, currency and included charges differ. Power, acceleration and range
Current U.S. performance claims
Jeep’s current U.S. Recon page lists a maximum 670 horsepower and estimates 0–60 mph in 3.6 seconds. These are manufacturer claims; no independent road-test result is established here. The November 2025 announcement instead quoted 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. Range figures vary by trim and market
There is no single range figure that can safely be applied to every Recon in every market. Jeep’s launch-era technical sheet estimated up to 230 miles for the Moab at launch and up to 250 miles for a later-availability trim. Jeep Canada’s current Moab listing displays 357 km; another Canadian page says up to 370 km. Treat these as market- and configuration-specific manufacturer estimates, not verified U.S. EPA results or promises of real-world distance. Charging: what to plan for
Jeep’s current U.S. page estimates 28 minutes for a DC fast charge from 5% to 80%. That is a manufacturer estimate, not a fixed stop duration: charging speed and time depend on factors including the charging station, battery temperature and conditions during the session. Jeep U.S. 2026 Recon page

Jeep says a dual-level combination charging cord is included and describes household-outlet charging. For home Level 2 charging, it identifies Qmerit as an installation partner for either a NEMA 14-50 outlet or a 48-amp residential charger installation rated up to 11.5 kW. The material does not establish typical installation cost or universal compatibility with third-party chargers. Before relying on home charging, have an installer assess your electrical service, confirm equipment compatibility and provide a location-specific quote.

Off-road hardware and open-air utility
Jeep’s launch overview lists the Moab with 9.4 inches of ground clearance, a 34-degree approach angle, a 34.5-degree departure angle and a 23.5-degree breakover angle. It also specifies standard 33-inch Moab tires. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not substitute for independent trail testing, and the cited figures are specifically associated with Moab. Jeep’s design page lists 69.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded and heated eight-way power front seats. That combination points to a vehicle intended to serve as both an open-air adventure SUV and a practical daily-use cabin, though the cargo figure applies with the seats folded. Safety claims and what they mean
Jeep advertises more than 170 standard safety and security features, naming examples such as Rough Road Cruise Control, Pedestrian Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Monitoring. This is Jeep’s feature-count claim, not a third-party crash-test rating. Look for independent safety ratings when they are available for the relevant model year and market. What to verify before ordering
- Exact trim and market: Verify the current price, range estimate, included equipment and options for the vehicle sold in your country.
- Local availability: Ask a dealer about actual inventory and expected timing for the configuration you want; a live model page does not guarantee a specific delivery date.
- Charging plan: Check home electrical capacity and installation cost, then confirm public charging access and payment options on your regular routes.
- Off-road fit: Compare the equipment and tire specification of the exact trim, and distinguish manufacturer geometry figures from independent performance testing.
- Price basis: Ask for a written quote that separates MSRP from taxes, fees, dealer charges and any locally applicable costs.
How to judge whether the Recon fits
The Recon’s strongest case is for a buyer who wants Jeep’s removable-body, trail-focused character in an electric four-wheel-drive SUV and can plan around charging access. Its headline acceleration and current U.S. power claim are compelling, but range needs careful, trim-specific comparison because the published numbers differ by market and configuration. For a purchase decision, compare the exact local trim’s current range estimate, price, off-road equipment and charging logistics—not just the broad Recon nameplate.
