The Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV is an extended-range electric SUV, not a conventional hybrid or a pure EV. In the reported layout, two electric motors propel the vehicle, a 92-kWh liquid-cooled battery supplies energy, and a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 runs a 130-kW generator when gasoline-supported operation is needed. Jeep-related material points to 647 horsepower, approximately 150 miles of estimated battery-only range and more than 500 miles of targeted total range.
There is also an important naming and timing correction: the latest dealer-order information identifies the first vehicles as 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer REV Summit and Summit Reserve models. As of August 12, 2026, initial dealer inventory orders were reportedly possible through EV-certified dealers, but customer-order timing, pricing and final EPA and charging specifications were still unpublished.
Important naming note: Jeep first announced this vehicle as the Grand Wagoneer REEV. The latest dealer-order information reviewed as of August 12, 2026, identifies the production-oriented vehicle as the 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer REV. The original 2026 launch program and the current 2027 dealer-order designation refer to the same extended-range electric SUV program, but final retail specifications remain incomplete.

The direct answer: this is an electric-drive SUV with a gasoline generator
The Grand Wagoneer REV is not a conventional parallel hybrid and should not be described as a pure battery-electric vehicle. In the reported configuration, the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 does not mechanically drive the wheels. Instead, it turns a 130-kW generator, while two electric drive motors provide propulsion.

That makes the REV a series-hybrid or extended-range electric vehicle. The battery supplies electricity for electric driving, and the gasoline engine can generate electricity when the battery’s charge declines or when the vehicle needs to preserve battery energy for later. Jeep’s strategy is to deliver the quiet, immediate response of an EV for shorter trips without requiring the driver to depend entirely on public charging for long journeys.
The distinction matters. A typical hybrid can blend engine power and motor power through a transmission, allowing the gasoline engine to drive the wheels mechanically. The reported REV layout instead uses gasoline as an onboard energy source for electric propulsion. Detailed production transmission and control-system information has not yet been published, so it is better not to infer more than that architecture confirms.
Powertrain: 92-kWh battery, V6 generator and two electric motors
The reported system combines four major elements:
- 3.6-liter Pentastar V6: The engine’s described role is to produce electricity rather than directly propel the Grand Wagoneer.
- 130-kW generator: This converts gasoline-engine output into electrical energy for the vehicle’s drive system and battery.
- 92-kWh liquid-cooled battery: The pack stores energy from the grid and from the generator. Liquid cooling is intended to help manage battery temperature under charging and driving loads.
- Two electric drive motors: These supply propulsion to the wheels in the reported REEV/REV design.
The battery is described as being integrated through the center of the vehicle. That packaging is intended to preserve a flat floor and the spacious three-row cabin expected of a Grand Wagoneer, rather than sacrificing the vehicle’s passenger space to an underfloor powertrain layout.
Jeep-related initial specifications list 647 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers would make the REV substantially more powerful than the conventional 2026 Grand Wagoneer and, according to the initial material, the most powerful Grand Wagoneer yet. The reported approximately five-second 0-to-60-mph time should be treated as a target or claim, not as an independently verified acceleration test.

How the REV compares with the conventional 2026 Grand Wagoneer
The regular 2026 Grand Wagoneer remains a separate gasoline configuration. Jeep’s current consumer information identifies a 3.0-liter Hurricane Twin-Turbo inline-six producing up to 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque.
| 2026 Grand Wagoneer gasoline model | Grand Wagoneer REV/REEV | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary energy source | Gasoline | Electricity from a plug-in battery, with gasoline-generated electricity for extended operation |
| Engine | 3.0-liter Hurricane Twin-Turbo inline-six | 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 connected to a generator in the reported layout |
| Reported output | Up to 420 hp and 468 lb-ft | 647 hp and 620 lb-ft |
| Mechanical engine propulsion | Yes, as a conventional gasoline powertrain | Not in the described REEV/REV layout |
| Charging | No plug-in charging pathway | Plug-in charging and reported DC fast-charging support |
| Reported towing capacity | Up to 10,000 pounds | Initial material also lists up to 10,000 pounds; final REV certification remains to be confirmed |
The REV is therefore not simply a more powerful trim of the 2026 gasoline Grand Wagoneer. It represents a different energy and propulsion strategy. The conventional model offers familiar gasoline refueling and a published engine specification, while the REV is designed to cover many daily trips electrically and use its gasoline generator for longer travel.
Range: approximately 150 electric miles and more than 500 miles overall
The central promise of the REV is a combination of electric driving and long-distance flexibility. Earlier product information and automotive reporting described approximately 150 miles of battery-only range, while the vehicle has been positioned around more than 500 miles of total range when battery energy and gasoline-generated electricity are combined.

Neither number should currently be presented as an EPA-certified result based on the available material. The roughly 150-mile figure is an estimate or engineering target, and the more-than-500-mile figure is a combined-range target. Final EPA labeling, production calibration and testing could change the numbers.

- Terrain and drive mode
- Towing a trailer
- Battery state of charge and how often the generator operates
For a large three-row luxury SUV, the format addresses a genuine ownership problem. A driver could potentially use the battery for commuting, errands and school runs, then retain gasoline-supported operation for a long interstate trip. That is different from promising that every trip will be electric or that the vehicle will deliver 500-plus miles while towing.
Charging: what the REV can do and what Jeep has not yet specified
The REV is reported to support both plug-in charging and DC fast charging. Its two energy pathways would work like this:
- Electricity from the grid charges the 92-kWh battery.
- The battery powers the electric drive motors for battery-only operation.
- When additional energy is needed, the Pentastar engine runs the generator.
- The generator supplies electricity to support driving and, depending on the control strategy, maintain or replenish the battery after its charge declines.
Final charging details are still missing. Jeep has not established in the available material the production connector, maximum DC-fast-charging rate, onboard AC-charging rate or official charging times. Those details are important for anyone planning a home installation or comparing the REV with a full EV.
For an owner who wants to maximize electric miles, an EV home charger would be the most natural piece of supporting equipment. A professionally installed 240-volt Level 2 setup is the likely category to investigate, but buyers should wait for Jeep’s final connector and charging specifications before selecting a vehicle-specific unit. A generic product label does not guarantee compatibility.
The same caution applies to a portable EV charging cable. It may be useful for flexible charging, but the cable’s connector, amperage and vehicle compatibility must be matched to the production REV. Do not buy one solely because it is advertised for another Jeep plug-in vehicle.
Home charging also determines how much value the range-extender layout provides. A household without reliable overnight charging may use the REV more like a gasoline-supported vehicle and receive less of the daily electric-driving benefit. Buyers should evaluate their parking situation, electrical service and expected daily mileage before assuming the plug-in system will reduce fuel use.

Towing and utility
Initial dealer-oriented material lists up to 10,000 pounds of maximum towing capacity and identifies Selec-Terrain drive modes and four-corner air suspension as part of the capability package. Jeep’s conventional 2026 Grand Wagoneer information also lists up to 10,000 pounds, but that does not automatically certify the REV for the same rating. The production tow-rating label, payload sticker and final specifications should control.
The range-extender concept could be useful for towing because the gasoline generator provides an energy source during long travel. A battery-only SUV can face a substantial range penalty when pulling a trailer and may need frequent charging stops. The REV has the potential to reduce that particular constraint.
Recommended Free Tools
It does not eliminate the normal towing trade-offs. A trailer increases aerodynamic drag and weight, which can reduce electric efficiency, cause the generator to run more often and lower total range. The advertised more-than-500-mile figure is not a towing-range guarantee.
Before ordering, a towing buyer should confirm the REV’s final payload, hitch rating, trailer-brake provisions, weight-distribution requirements and available wiring. It is reasonable to compare Grand Wagoneer towing accessories, but compatibility and whether the vehicle already includes an integrated trailer-brake controller must be verified before purchasing equipment.
Initial trims and luxury equipment
The first dealer-order information covers standard-wheelbase Summit and Summit Reserve models. The following equipment list comes from that initial order information and should not be treated as a final universal specification for every future REV configuration.
Summit
- 20-way Nappa leather massaging front seats
- 19-speaker McIntosh audio system
- Tri-pane sunroof
- Four-corner air suspension
- Four-zone climate control
- Head-up display

Availability: a 2026 program with first dealer orders identified as 2027 models
Availability is the most confusing part of the Grand Wagoneer REV story. Stellantis identified the Grand Wagoneer range-extended vehicle as a 2026 launch program in its first-quarter 2026 investor presentation. Its second-quarter 2026 results, published July 30, reported strong Grand Wagoneer sales but did not provide a detailed REV customer-launch timetable.
A more recent dealer-order report dated July 21, 2026, says EV-certified dealers can submit initial inventory orders for the 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer REV. That first phase covers standard-wheelbase Summit and Summit Reserve vehicles.
That does not mean that retail customer ordering is open. As of August 12, 2026, the following items had not been established in the available information:
- Official MSRP and destination charge
- Jeep’s public customer-order opening date
- Final EPA-certified electric and total range
- Final charging connector, charging rates and charging times
- Availability of long-wheelbase versions
- Complete trim, seating and payload details
- Whether every previously announced 2026 reference will become a retail 2027 vehicle
In practical terms, buyers can regard the REV as a planned and actively ordered dealer-inventory vehicle, not as a fully documented model that anyone can yet configure and purchase through the normal customer-order process.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should consider the Grand Wagoneer REV?
The REV makes the most sense for a buyer who meets several of these conditions:
- Has dependable overnight parking and access to home charging
- Wants quiet, electric-style operation for regular short trips
- Frequently travels long distances and does not want a charging-only road-trip strategy
- Needs a large three-row luxury SUV rather than a smaller plug-in vehicle
- May tow and values gasoline-supported operation during extended travel
- Is comfortable waiting for final pricing, certification and equipment details
The conventional gasoline Grand Wagoneer may be the more straightforward choice for someone who cannot charge at home, wants a fully documented vehicle immediately, or prefers to avoid the added complexity of a battery, generator and electric-drive system. A full EV may be a better fit for a buyer who wants zero gasoline use and has easy access to dependable fast charging.
The REV sits between those choices. It offers the possibility of electric daily driving without making every long-distance trip dependent on public charging, but it is not a pure EV and its final operating costs cannot yet be calculated accurately without pricing, efficiency, charging and EPA data.

What to verify before putting down a deposit
- Model year and name: Confirm whether the vehicle is a 2027 REV and whether the dealer is discussing an inventory order or a customer order.
- Price: Obtain the official MSRP, destination charge, options and any dealer-installed equipment in writing.
- EPA figures: Ask for certified electric range, combined range, fuel-economy figures and the conditions used for any published total-range claim.
- Charging hardware: Confirm the connector, onboard AC rate, maximum DC-fast-charging rate and expected charging times before buying a charger or cable.
- Towing: Check the vehicle’s production tow label, payload rating, hitch equipment and trailer-brake provisions rather than relying only on the “up to 10,000 pounds” headline.
- Configuration: Verify wheelbase, seating, cargo space, wheel design, tires and the exact Summit or Summit Reserve equipment list.
- Delivery timing: Ask whether the dealer has an accepted factory allocation, an inventory request or only an expression of interest.
Bottom line
The Grand Wagoneer REEV—now appearing in dealer-order material as the 2027 Grand Wagoneer REV—is a compelling application of extended-range electric technology to a very large luxury SUV. Its reported 647-hp, two-motor system could provide EV-like response, the estimated 150-mile battery range could cover many daily routines, and the gasoline generator could make long trips and towing less dependent on charging infrastructure.
But the most important numbers are not final yet. The approximately 150-mile electric range, more-than-500-mile total range, five-second acceleration and 10,000-pound towing capacity should all be treated as reported estimates, targets or initial dealer figures until Jeep publishes production specifications and EPA certification. The right description today is not “a 2026 electric Grand Wagoneer now available to order,” but an announced 2026 program whose first dealer-order vehicles are being identified as 2027 REV Summit and Summit Reserve models.
Information status: reviewed against the supplied Stellantis 2026 investor and results references, Jeep consumer powertrain information and the July 21, 2026 dealer-order report. Final specifications, pricing, certification and customer-order timing may change.
